BULB/PERIPHERY - "The Walk" with vocals uploaded to myspace!

Wow thanks a lot guys!!
Yeah its axefx on this one, i absolutely love that unit!!!
Hmm i dont know much about de-essers except that the ones i have tried have always messed with the character of the vocals, any reccomendations for good transparent ones that i can just pop on without ruining the sound haha?

I like using the Waves De-Esser after compression since you can set the threshold to whatever sounds best for the vocalist. I usually have mine set to reduce around the 5k or 6k rage at -30 threshold. Just make sure it's set so that it's only "engaging"(or whatever you would call it) when he's saying "ssss". Otherwise it's taking alot of your high end out of the vox on unnecessary parts.

I like this singer's vox alot though.:kickass:

I actually prefer the track without vocals ... this singer dude bores me. Sorry. He sounds totally replacable and unrecognizeable. And you know how much I dig Periphery ...

aw that sucks, but different strokes i guess since all of us LOVE his voice and thats what matters at the end of the day no haha!

no way dudes, the new guy is fucking brutal. i love is his phrasing and variety.

amazing work bulby. the kick sounds so unique and fantastic, i love it.

you're a god.

I just put the song on again and went into the kitchen to check on the rice and when I came back to the studio the clean-voice part was on. That was cool.

I think it's the vocal production in the beginning that bores me. It's too unvariable to keep my attention. You may wanna work on that to vary it a bit cause there is a lot of straight ahead screaming with distortion (which kills all dynamics in the vocals) for a long time. Hit me up on AIM, I might have some ideas if you are interested.

Still, I couldn't finish listening to the song. Just can't keep my attention cause on my MacBook speakers it's mainly Vocals, then some drums and almost no guitars in this mix.

Fader, thanks man! I want you to know i really appreciate your willingness to help out with your ideas.
But honestly just keep in mind that we love the song just as it is, i would be down to hear your ideas on what you think would improve it, but keep in mind that we have a "if it aint broke, dont fix it" standpoint so dont let it get to you if the song stays exactly the same haha!

Haha, totally. Dude, it's your project. Who am I to say what you should do? :)

I just found it amazing that this is the first time I really didn't wanna finish listening to a Periphery track.

Also keep in mind that I am a total pop dude and that I really don't care for most of your influences (like Meshuggah etc.), so yea, it may just be that I am simply not into this type of music :)

Haha well i have some good news for you then because i think this may be one of the few if not the only track on the album that wont be to your tastes (i cant and wont expect everyone to like everything haha!) but on most of the other tracks there will be way more of a balance between singing and screaming, this is just kind of the all out song on the album!

Btw, good news everyone! our new merch store is open and never runs out of stock either yay!!
