Burzum on Candlelight?

Bah, his music is pretty fucking boring, in my opinion. To be honest, the prospect of that boring little fucker getting free and easy access to the media is the sound of a trillion tr00 messageboard nazis cumming in their pants.

Note to subsequent flamers: I won't be making a habit of reading the rest of the thread, so sorry, I will not be responding. If it saves you any time, I am in this order: gay, fat, a poser, a n00b, a cunt and my mother is also all of the previously mentioned.

Thank you for your time.

I just gave Filosofem a listen after probably over two years, having been turned off namely by the 25 minute monstrosity. My perspective on that album has completely shifted. I previously thought that the rest of that album was merely okay with the 25 minute ambient track being an abomination, but it truly is an amazing piece of art. The next step is to revisit Hvis Lyset Tar Oss.

I guess I can start liking Filosofem again.

I'm not really sure of your point here, but he did earn whatever little media attention he gets, in one way or another.

Do people still want to kill Varg all these years later or is he pretty much safe when getting out of prison.

So I am getting that he is going to start where he left off when he went to jail and just continue in that vein, ignoring the "developments" made in black metal. Kind of like an alternate history thingamibob. That would be really cool, because I prefer the old BM to today's stuff by a long shot. I'm still a n00b though, so I don't really know

It's not like he's really ignoring the developments, because he doesn't have access to music, so 1993 is pretty much as far as Black Metal has evolved for him. So I agree that, if he does pursue an actual Black Metal project, how the absence of the last 13 years of development will shape his music.

According to interviews that I read he don´t want to make a black metal album. I bet it will be ambient. If he will realese black metal album, money will be purpose. Which is ok, why not.

"Can people expect you to release any more music after you are released?

Probably. The future albums, if I ever record anything, will as far as I can tell sound much like the old albums, whether I like it or not, because I am incapable of making music that doesn't sound rather "burzumic". :-) I fear it might not be too original or different from old Burzum, as I wanted it to be, but I guess there are people who think that is just fine too. And on the other hand it is not very surprising that I still make music that sounds much like my own music... "

He also later on refers to the likelihood of including at least one "Metal" version of a song from the Daudi Balders album, which he greatly prefers to the electronic versions. He also says that Jesu' Dod from Filosofem is a "Metal" version of that series of songs from the Daudi Balders album as well, and that he really only recorded ambient albums because that is all he had access to. Now he has a guitar, but he can't record anything until he gets out.

It would be interesting to hear what Varg will attempt to do musically once he is out of jail and can use instruments. I'm sure that there will be a good number of sales and there will be a "historic event in black metal" because he will probably end up doing a live tour with Cradle Of Filth or Dummyburger or some sell-out shit like that, you watch. Maybe a Mayhem/Burzum tour? :Smug: $$$$$$$$$$$$!!!!!!

P.S. I wish that Dodens Grav would fatally choke on semen.

I think he can potentially earn more money with his political associations then he can with music...besides, a lot of people know of Burzum, not a lot listen to them, at least not like Cradle of Filth or Dimmu Borgir because Burzum is not exactly mass-consumption friendly.

I'm sure that the new Burzum album would probably be the most anticipated extreme metal release ever. Has anything else ever been as hyped as this is sure to be?

Yes, I havn't heard any hype at all, aside from on this forum. I know a lot of people that like Cradle and Dimmu but very few people who listen to other "Black Metal" bands. I'm sure it'll do good for a traditional Black Metal album but I think some people are over-rating the album before it's even out.

Once official plans are made (if ever) to actually release an album, hype will be overwhelming, almost assuredly.
