Camera... thoughts...

Why do you want to upgrade to a body 3x more expensive than what you're using now? What are you shooting? What's your skill level? How comfortable with the T1i are you? What kind of lenses do you have?

Because, I can get a 7D for just a little bit more $$$ than a 60D body. I'm using what I've got, mainly, for concert type photography. I'd consider my skill level at an intermediate level, but continue to learn as I go along. I'm very comfortable with the T1i. I have several EF and EF-S based lenses. If and when I get the 7D, I'll start moving my way to USM lenses. I just wanted to know if anyone had any experience with the 7D and what they thought of it.

Waste of money for you, to be honest. Those levels are expert level cameras (but not quite pro except as backup bodies or maybe sports photogs) that will give an intermediate user intermediate level results. In a case like this, gear does not make a difference. Unless you are literally pushing past the limits of what your T1i is capable of, getting shots the camera itself shouldn't be allowing, that body will serve you just fine for a number of years. Unless you can honestly explain why you need to upgrade a body, you don't need it.

A professional concert photographer friend of mine who has been doing it 2 years longer than I have just 2 weeks ago upgraded to the 5DMK2 from a Rebel XTi, and he was almost always better with that low end body than I am with my 5D, and I don't consider myself too shabby.

If you'd like a helpful suggestion bred of experience and honesty, you should really invest in some prime lenses or good, fast, wide aparture glass. Specifically the 24-70 2.8L rather than a "semi-cheap" prosumer level body with a crop sensor for concert photography.

I agree with Pat, invest in some better lenses with wider apertures designed for concert photography and low light situations. I have the 7D and love it but it is definitely a pro/expert level camera. While I don't use mine for concert photography I have no doubt it would excel with the proper lens and person shooting. Getting better lenses will show a more noticeable improvement than upgrading the body at this point.

After thinking about things, I've found a local shop in Austin who rent lenses. I'm going to rent the Canon 24-70 2.8 L for the weekend of the Anthrax/Testament/Death Angel show to see how it works for me. So thanks everyone for your thoughts and suggestions. Much appreciated.
