just wanted to share cuz i thought some people would find it worthwhile, sunday/monday i went backpacking (just one night) in sonoma/napa (wine country) with a couple friends...the state park was closed cuz of trail erosion (flooding recently) so we had to go around somebody's property and bushwhack our way down a friggin mountainside, in the dark, couple miles down following a creek through some crazy underbrush before we met up with the trail...then climbed a few more miles to the top of a peak (2700'), camped, got really high and ate some chili.
monday, woke up, watched the sunrise, smoked a bowl, lay in a meadow the inexplicably warm sun, where we had a PERFECT view of the entire north bay and could see clear to san francisco, which looked like a tiny toy city in the distance, then hiked several more hours over the ridge down to a friend's ranch in st. helena.
it fucking ruled. sorry about the lack of pics, but nobody brought a camera. trust me, i'm sorrier than you are.
edit: k i found some pics online, not what i would have taken but gives you an idea. sorry about the panoramic pic but i think it's worth it. and yes, despite the season, the weather WAS that good. incredible.
this is pretty much where we were camped:
we were on the one on the right:
etc, etc
