as a native new englander, I'm very proud of my Green and White Mountains...but I have to say the Rockies slay all, and are at least on par with the Alps. I didn't hike in the Rockies but spent a week there in Colorado and Utah, and the reality is more awe-inspiring than pictures can convey. Course I had along a MFJ style marijuana kit that my two buds (pun intended) and I liberally partook of, and it's one of the greatest memories of my life :) Every bend in the road brings a vista that beats the one just previous.

I'm pretty sure the High Sierra would destroy the Rockies.
