And the two guitarists for Nocturnal Rites are INCREDIBLE. They are like the reincarnate of Murray/Smith.

Nocturnal Rites are from my town... Seen 'em live too. They're not as drenched in homosexuality or jolly melody lines as most power metal bands, so I can definitely tolerate them. More heavy metal than anything really. Afterlife is the only album I've really heard though, but it has some very good songs.

Afterlife is their 'dark' one. Their best is Sacred Talisman, but it is very melodic a la Maiden / Malmsteen. For you, the melody might be a bad thing I suppose, but come on, get drunk and singalong!

Agreed that they fit into the traditional vein a little more than power metal, and their guitar work shreds....
