Character & Lost To Apathy reviews

Subject: Review of Dark Tranquillity - Character CD (century media)
from the March 2005 issue of Revolver
These Gothenburg innovators return with their most aggressive album in years,
which finds furious death metal intermingling with Maiden-on-meth guitar duels.
Though the general atmosphere is decidedly dark and intense, welcome snatches
of melody come courtesy of the gothic keyboard touches that appear during the
numerous heart-stopping breakdowns.Dark Tranquillity pretty much eschew
(La Rocque likes the word eschew) the commercial viability that bands like
In Flames and Soilwork have embraced of late, because of that, Character is a
better album. The record still has a strong melodic element, but never compromises
the integrity of the band's savage sound... reviewed by Adem Tepedelm
