CHILDREN OF BODOM To Release Collection Of Covers

Yes it is.
I often buy from amazon.co.uk and the most expensive cd I ever bought there didn't cost more than 8 pound.
which is like 9,19642857 Euro. well maybe hatewear and bodom cds are overpriced but even at media markt i wouldn't pay that much :D

EDIT:
here you go

is that waiting cover new or what? i checked on metal archives and its not on the cd, where is it from?
edit: i checked on sob and it said its from 99, is it going to be on any versions of the album? that cover is actually badass as is king diamond and that album.

"Waiting" is after "Oops, I did it again" but on the same track (this is a hidden track)

lazicob you have to be kidding me. You really posted as of yet, unreleased tunes and not only that but right on the bands own forum.

You'll have to sue the guy who put them up on youtube. I know it must hurt and it's gotta be annoying, but from an outsider point of view it's always the same thing.

I'm not attacking you but I'm just curious, why do you have such a strong opposition to leaks and things like that? I'm a musician and in a band myself and could understand if it were like rough studio mixes or something that made the music sound bad (like when the bootleg of trashed lost and strungout played live the first time was leaked on the net) but I'd actually feel slightly honored if someone took the effort to leak my album. that means that they care enough to risk their own position to share it and listen to it and the fans can hear it as soon as possible and enjoy it (and if they do they'll buy it or go to shows). all in all it just means the fans can hear the music earlier, whats the point of waiting for extra time if its already done and ready to be shared with the world? some people wait even if its leaked anyway so i really don't see who gets hurt here at all.

What you're saying is the truth. Like I said last time, I'm a fan of the band, not record label, so I can listen to the songs when they've leaked in 100% quality, I don't have to wait until Spinefarm gets the ready material out in stores.

I guess an artist just wants to see the reactions of people as they get their hands on the proper official release, and not have bits from here and there. In that sense I totally understand it, but leaks themselves don't affect the sales of albums, tour tickets or merchandise in all my logic.

It is annoying that it gets leaked in the first place. If you trust certain people with advanced material, they need to be responsible for keeping it to themselves. My big bitch about lazicob posting it here is it's just a slap to the bands face to be post their leaked material via their own web page. Let's just call it rude. And I understand it is not his fault it has been leaked, just leave it on Youtube. Also it may not seem like leaked material would hurt a band so much, but unless your selling Metallica's numbers it does have an effect.

It is more of a respect issue for me than anything.

I understand. It could be that the excitement prospect for the not-so-hardcore fans dims a little after they've heard the songs and won't probably buy the album anymore. Luckily these days the album sales bring only 10% of COB's income or so I've heard. Or is that because of the leaks, I dunno

WIMH is a letdown of a cover tbh

Waiting kicks ass

HIFC is pretty cool

Antisocial is alright, group shouts kick ass

CHILDREN OF BODOM Frontman Talks Covers Album - Aug. 28, 2009

U.K.'s Terrorizer magazine recently conducted an interview with CHILDREN OF BODOM guitarist/vocalist Alexi Laiho. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

Terrorizer: OK, so Spinefarm have just collected all the covers you've ever recorded for a kinda "best-of" collection, including songs by IRON MAIDEN, SLAYER, W.A.S.P., BILLY IDOL and, erm, BRITNEY SPEARS. Of all the songs on that album, which are your favorites.

Alexi: Well my favorite is, for example, we just recorded two extra songs for the album about two months ago so one of them is a PAT BENATAR song, "Hell Is For Children". It's one of my favorites and I don't know, I guess you have to love the BRITNEY SPEARS cover.

Terrorizer: PAT BENATAR is a surprising choice. She's criminally underrated outside of North America, are you sure you wouldn't have rather done something by LITA FORD?

Alexi: I've been a fan of PAT BENATAR for a long time, she has so many awesome songs and she's a great singer and actually a lot of her songs have potential to be bad-ass metal songs; well, that's what I hear anyway. Like the first time when I heard "Hell Is For Children", it was like man we have to cover this as a metal version. It's weird, no one talks about PAT BENATAR. I guess she just wasn't that popular outside the U.S. I've been a fan of her for a long time.

Terrorizer: When you cover a song, do you always try to add that tradmark BODOM touch, to change them slightly and make them more metal?

Alexi: Yeah, I mean that's kind of the whole point, we want to make it different. There are a couple of exceptions, like for example the SUICIDAL TENDENCIES cover; there's nothing much we can do about it. It's pretty much like the original version but we added stuff here and there but usually we like to throw in stuff that wasn't on the original and fuck around with it as well, just make it sound like CHILDREN OF BODOM.

Terrorizer: But metal is a serious business Alexi. Some fans will say there is no room for "comedy" covers albums in metal!

Alex: Well, I'm saying, "Chill the fuck out." We not taking it all too seriously, obviously I take metal seriously but metal is about fun too so there are definitely covers on there that are just for a laugh you know. But yeah, it's just who we are, we like to have fun, we like to have a laugh, we're not afraid to show that to anybody.
