... does it matter to you?

To me, it does. It seems like a contradiction of terms, and I find the concept laughable and repulsive. Call me shallow or narrow minded, but if a band was a Christian band, I could care less how 'talented' they were: I wouldn't touch them with a 10 foot pole.

I totally agree with you... although it is stupid. :)
but actually I am not interested in bands who sing about the great stuff of jesus and god. i think it doesnt fit the music.
but i must say that there are some christian bands who are talented. but as you said I also dont care..they dont belong to my CD/MP3 collection anyway. ;)
is it mean to say such things about those bands? hihi :D

haha...yeah...i like extol so i guess i don't really care..but then i haven't really read their lyrics

EDIT: I'm with MadTinus

I'm in the same boat...and I'm not. It all depends.

I was asked to play keys for a local Christian metal band, and I turned it down. Their songs were basically metal hymns, and since I'm not Christian, I didn't care to sign up. :yuk:

There is this one band called Saviour Machine, though, that doesn't just rewrite hymns with metal riffs. I'm actually a big fan of them, myself. I'd recommend their self-titled album to anyone, and I'm generally a pretty unChristian person.

As long as it's not that kind of "halleluja, praise the lord" type of stuff I don't care, though the only Christian band I have in my collection is Extol I think...

They're a good example that Christian Metal can actually sound quite brutal and mean and well... not Christian. If I wasn't told so or read their lyrics I wouldn't know they're Christian, their music doesn't tell me.

WHy does it matter if they are Christian or not. You woldn't even know that they are Christian if you didn't read the lyrics. Hell, you can't even understand them anyways.

I also find this interesting because being a Christian has to do with Religion. Well, Asatru and Satanism are religions. So, what does it matter one way or another?

And I'm sure someone will say "well, satanism doesnt mean they worship the devil, it means they go against society". What a load

That is the dumbest fucking thing I've read all day. Its obvious that you know nothing in regards to Satanism. Congratulations.

I can't comment on 'Asatru,' but I've always seen Satanism as more of a collection of philosophies than a 'religion.'

Most 'Satanic' bands are more anti-Christian than pro-Satan. Satan is used as a symbol in most lyrics...

Besides, I'd rather listen to someone talk about gutting angels than praising someone's name. Metal by nature is nihilistic and dark... to make Christian metal would be like dressing up a kitten in corpsepaint and blood. As much as you've tried to make it look dark, its still... not.

Why would I want to know about something as asinine as satanism.

Oooo, look at me, I'm evil.

Again, what a load of monkey shit

I don't care if a band is christian or not. If they are talented, they are just that. No reason not to listen to a good and talented band.

On the religions part I'll have to agree with Dreamlord. Satanism is the counterpart of Chistianism so it has to be a religion, otherwise Christianism isn't religion any more. And we all know that it is.
Being somewhat schooled in this religion I can say that the most cruel things in life are things taken from that religion. So why couldn't the be great metal about its.
Just look at what has happend to the world in the name of christianity.
Crusades with the murdering of thousands of people.
Isn't is possible to write a lyric about the torture one can inflict in the name of religion.
The massacre on the battlefield and so on.

I'd allmost say that christianism is darker and more evil than any other thing in this world.
And if you're talking about cutting angels up, isn't it more beautyfull if the angels where ripping each other apart?

There are many types of Satanism. People argue about it all the time. Are you talking Luciferian, Medieval Satanism, Satanism as Anton LaVey portrayed it. . .

There's no point in argueing over whether or not Satanism is a religion. Someone can justify a case one way or the other. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of sites out there to prove it.

ISC, there are indeed many different types of satanism, allthought I thought satanism like Luciferian (some form of religion) was most common known and 'excercised'

AMEN.
Pun fucking intended.
Am I the only person who could'nt give a shit about most metal lyrics? The majority of them seem to be the same generic satan/Gore bullshit.
Note use of the word "Majority" and not all.
The only aspect of metal I care about is the actual instrument music. Not the image, not the lyrics, not the clothes.Just the goddamn music.
I dont care if the lyrics are about Satan,Jesus,Buddha,Santa Claus or Richard Gere. Its generally redundant piss written by individuals who lack the edge to do something different.
Except Lord Worm.He writes some funny shit.

I'd say that if the message is pretty blunt and I can't apply it at all to my life then it would turn me off. However, there have been a few bands that I liked...

The Crucified, Tourniquet, Believer, Circle Of Dust, & that's pretty much it. The rest bore me. Of course being as I am an ex x-ian maybe it just holds bad memories for me.

dressing up a kitten in corpsepaint and blood.

as far as this debate goes. WHO THE FUCK CARES. just play metal
