Christians suck; world still turns

IMO he should have at least done research or something before asking us (right after making a bunch of bullheaded and ludicrously opinionated posts which he had no right to be opinionated about considering he admitted he knows nothing about the topic at hand). When people come here and just mouth off ill-educated opinions without knowing anything and then ADMITTING they know nothing (arguing from ignorance) with such a pompous and ridiculous attitude, it serves them right to be lampooned for it imo.

AcK is the Al Sharpton for people with unpopular opinions.

There are more appropriate ways to 'lampoon' them, though, i.e. "your posts are irrelevant/full of holes/utter nonsense, and it's a waste of time to respond to them". This at least has a chance of cluing them in to their idiocy, rather than just pissing them off and possibly making them more determined to try in vain to "win" the argument.

Um, what points has Ferretallica made that weren't addressed? I know you think his "survey" should have been "indulged" more, but Necuratul already answered it in a way that did not need to be seconded by anyone:

You have absolutely no right whatsoever, living in the US, to be free from homosexuality. In the exact same sense that you are not free from heterosexuality.

Something tells me someone who barges into a topic they clearly know nothing about and tries to act like a master of wisdom on said topic, point out its design flaws and how dumb it is without understanding the fundamentals doesn't care to be told off in such a PC way. I'm done being nice to people who are ignorant with obviously dumb opinions. I never really call AchrisK a stupid fag with dumb opinions, because I like him as a person (from what I know about him anyway, he likes inExordium and recommended me Stygian so w/e) even though I don't like his viewpoints.

Seriously, if you're going to spend time on trite arguments like Ferretallica was, despite being told he's going the wrong way with what he was saying at EVERY JUNCTURE, you don't deserve to be patted on the head and told that your opinion is silly and you should go read more; you should be told to get the fuck out and let the people who know things about the topic at hand or at least have relevant information to add discuss it.

EDIT: Also how lame would this forum be if we had to be NICE to Krig...

politicians are religious. its hard to be a politician with out being religious
~gR~

In countries such as Usa and Iran yes, it seems. I'm constantly completely baffled by this fact, i cannot fathom how this can be. It's a complete mindfuck how backwards it is, seriously. Come as a politician in most places in Europe and say your main drive is your religious beliefs and you'll be dismissed as a dangerous fucking whackjob by your surroundings, you wont have much political credibility to anyone much longer.

It is pretty sad, yeah. But I would assume it's simply a function of how much of a country's population is religious. From what I read, only about 1/5 of Swedes are religious, whereas 4/5 of Americans are still Christian. It's a wonder we've managed to keep church and state as separate as we have.

America is so un-christian across the board its rediculous. Just becuase someone checked a box in some survey doesn't make it so. We aren't burning churches much yet but thats just because everyones too busy being entertained.
Im completely against established religion but people who front like they are religious still piss me off. Hypocrites fucking piss me off in general.

Freedom from religion = covered by the right to freedom of religion. Right to lack of something is often implicit as part of a right to anything covered by the totality. For instance, the right to free speech. This also covers my right to say nothing at all; it says nothing about "you can't NOT talk," similar to how freedom of religion carries no implication that I MUST practice SOME KIND OF RELIGION.

I don't think there is anyone who would argue that you MUST practice A religion. However, I do seem to see a sentiment that those who are athiestically inclined think that freedom from religion means they must in no way be affected by religion at all which just isn't going to happen.
Example, lets say you just HATED pizza and everything about pizza. You go into the mall and walk through the food court past Sbarro's and people enjoying their pizza and talking about how much they love their pizza, you have to smell the pizza baking etc. You have friends and co-workers who ask you to go out with them to get some Pizza Hut. How is that different than the populous and religion? As far as religion in American politics its no different than your job having a luncheon or whatever and ordering Papa John's.
The difference between say, religion in American politics and religion in the Holy Roman Empire was the difference between Papa John's provided for lunch, and someone putting you in the wrack and force-feeding Cici's pizza to you.

Over 90% of Americans believe in some higher power. About half the country don't even accept evolution.

Believing in a higher power and embracing a religion are two different things. And evolution is a theory which can never be scientifically proven, just like creation is a theory which can never be scientifically proven. But thats for another thread too.

It's already been scientifically proven lol. If you think it hasn't, I implore you to go read about it more. Creationism CAN'T because it's based on NON-SCIENCE.

Yeah it's been discussed.

How is creation not founded on non-science. There are millions of websites telling you the right way to do science.

AchrisK, there is significant observational evidence showing living creatures developing new traits or mutations, which is the basis of evolution. There is absolutely no observational evidence of a creature simply popping into existence at some point in time due to the actions of God.
