How are you guys coming along? I haven't bought anything yet. My excuses? Too broke and busy to do any serious hxc shoppin'. :Spin:

Figured out everything I need to buy/get/have done, just waiting on my student loan so i can pay my tuition, by my books and then start in on the shopping. I should be able to do all of it in one day so i'm not overly concerned.

fuck xmas shopping. except for when i wrote a check for 20 big ones when i bought my house, ive never spent so much as i have recently. allright, well ive written some huge checks for cars and school loans in the past few years but lately, man, preparing for a child is like a money-spending fest. strollers, car seats, cribs, it NEVER FUCKING ENDS.
that and i just dont want to celebrate xmas. i dont believe in christ.

Anything close to a relative lives outside a radius of 1.000 kilometers from me and I can't afford a vacation for Christmas, so I guess I won't go broke on presents save for girlfriend.

I've perfected the art of Festivus shopping. I simply get everyone on my list (except my wife) a $50 or a $100 American Express gift card. This way, they can get whatever it is they want, rather than getting what I think it is they want. Last year, between the holidays and my birthday (which falls in Dec.) I got three actual gifts (the rests were gift cards). I had to return each of three gifts. What a pain in the ass.

I'm on your list . . . right?

Every year i go with my friends to the record stores in 23/12, so i buy nothing from now until then. Its standard. I love the whole thing, i cant even compare ordering from the internet with entering a record store and see the albums yourself, asking/searching and buying the ones you want. Its magic.
And yes my christmas shopping is 90% music related, the other 10% might be a film or tv series on dvd (i want to buy The Office season 2 now), or film posters etc.

I wish gift certificates would be deemed acceptable by certain members of my family. I hate shopping, i hate malls, luckily I leave myself looking as evil and pissed off as possible (the second part coming with being forced to go to the mall) and people scatter before my speed walking/stomping through the mall. Especially the worst of the corwd, the tiny asians.

Awesome! Did I get a $50 or $100 gift card?!

grandfather. Therefore all the vancouver family members cannot receive gift certificates or i'd basically lose my tuition funding from him.

We just exchange the receipts so they can exchange the items. Plus they're easy to shop for.

the grandfather and his new wife are the difficult ones to shop for.

overstock.com is always a good option. I did take advantage of some of those walmart and target sales though. 20'' flat screen + dvd player for only $100? I was game.

We stopped giving presents to each other in our family years ago. Caused more stress than pleasure. Christmas is for getting the family together and just having a good time, talking, feasting, playing board games and stuff.

I sent parcels with German Christmas goodies to a few UM'ers in the US. Apart from that, my best friend will be the only person who'll get a present.

yeah, i'm going to abandon much of christmas once the grandfather dies. Gift certificates are great, we all agree (except him).

Right now, its the christmas stress/ulcer and general stress fest.

edit: 'Tis the season to scream, yell, argue, and hate everyone in sight. Up until boxing day, i hate december.
