Chuck schuldiner vs James Hetfield

Chuck was obviously a much more technical guitar player. Hetfield was a vastly better vocalist and lyricist. I feel like Chuck Schuldiner vs Dave Mustaine would be a more relevant comparison, since they're both vocalists and lead guitarists and the main men of their respective bands.

I agree with pretty much everything there, although Chuck was a pretty good lyricist himself.

Chuck vs Dave would be hard as fuck for me. Both great guitar players, but Dave clearly wins there. He's also a better songwriter. They're pretty even in the vocals and lyrics departments, if anything another slight edge to Mustaine in both of them ... although both bands did have some silly lyrics early on.

Dave is garbage. Garbage vocalist, garbage lyricist, garbage songwriter, garbage lead player. Sure, he's flashy and technical but it's so fucking boring. He wrote some classics back in the 80s, great, who the fuck didn't? He's accomplished nothing since Rust in Peace.

Fixed that for you.

I prefere James Hetfields rythmn, lyrics, and vocal delivery. I think he conveys old metallica really well, but chuck is a lead guitarist. I think James Hetfield does a solo in Nothing Else Matters, but that is it, the solo happens to be really good. James Hetfield sings and Chuck Schuldiner is more of a vocalist. I think they are both very distinct and recognizable vocalists/guitarist, but that's about it when it comes to comparison.

I like the sound of Chuck's voice better, but I'd go with Dave on guitar playing and song writing. Chuck's good too though.

Actually, they're both pretty shitty lead players. Chuck probably wins because his solos generally consisted of more than RAAAAHHHH PENTATONIC FLAT OUT but they both should have concentrated on riffs and let the lead guitarist be the lead guitarist.
