This is purely why metals bands should be thankful for NOT being inducted. I'll admit I listened to Def Lep until Hysteria, they weren't absolutely brilliant but they could still rock and audience. But to say they DESERVE the award is pure fucking arrogance and a false sense of entitlement. But to say it about the band you joined after their height in fame, to say it about the band who really has done equal amounts of nothing since you joined is just a joke.

I think they deserve it as much as anyone else. But that's not saying much at all. It's a joke as far as I'm concerned. And probably most metalheads. But Vivian Campbell? No. Nothing they've done since he's joined has anything to do with what they're being inducted for. He just joined a ship that already sailed. I think it's a little displacement. He probably thinks he deserves it for Dio, which he might. But I don't see that happening. So he thinks he deserves it this way.
But seriously. It's a joke...a pathetic stupid joke.

Yeah I do remember there was talk of an album, and I remember talk about the Runaways not reuniting and a lot of the blame falling on her. But I really don't think she's done much relevant to the metal/rock world. Maybe she only needs to release an album in the 80's then again in the 30 years later and she has a 'career' spanning 30 years.

I believe Vivian was also one of the people who stood beside Wendy and made comments about how good the RDJ hologram was and how Ronnie would have wanted it. I think that automatically means he gets voted out of any award!

I'm not sure if he's still on the Dio tour or not. He might be, but he was really tight with Wendy for a while. Ronnie's career spanned more than long enough to qualify for RNR HOF, Viv should be screaming for his induction not Def Lepp. (and he shouldn't he shouldn't be present if it was offered )

I have two of her albums on LP but they were bought cheap and I have to say I don't remember when I last listened to them. I don't have a problem with her getting any sort of accolade for what she did, the Runaways were fairly popular, but I still like Doro better and she's been releasing stuff relatively frequently for her entire career.

Judas Priest has said they would love and deserve to be in. I'm not sure how many of the rock bands are being truthful when they say they don't care. Most of the Metal bands I believe. But the rock bands love to be recognized lol.

I don't remember what actually qualifies a band other than they become eligible to be voted for 25 years after their first release. That puts a shitload of bands in the qualifying round and many of them could easily argued to be better, more popular, bigger and anything else simply because there is still bands from the 60's and 70's who haven't even got a look in yet. But of course not all of them can be voted in and there has to be some reason the bands who are getting the vote are getting them.

Sadly in Australia Def Lepp remained popular for longer than other parts of the world, they were doing Australia only tours after Adrenalize that were sell outs and their albums were selling well. I think it's our fault they are still popular at all

I remember JP saying they it was a joke that they weren't voted in and they have since said they would no longer accept it if it was offered. Bruce Dickinson also said he'd refuse it if it was offered. Whether that's turns out to be true only time will tell, but you're right we haven't heard Jon Bon Jovi say he's handing any award back as a part of protest for the bands who deserve it.

Yeah JP did say that. And I think Ritchie still does. Of course he's got no dog in this fight lol. But Rob changed his tune in the last several interviews it's been brought up. He and KK both have said more recently that they should be in and they think it will be great when it happens. I think Ian Hill has still said he doesn't care.

To be honest until the recent round of JP and Bruce making headlines I couldn't have told you who's been nominated or who has won. It's not something I have ever followed. I did do some research on the RNR HOF tours and what is there a while back but from what I could find it's pretty boring and offers very little to fans of any sort of music.

From what I read they put on a few shows and have some memorabilia. I was even reading reports that the tours are boring and not worth paying for. Maybe the should sell crack at the doors so everyone can enjoy it.

Goddamn those people in the JP camp first they treat KK with contempt now they are doing the same with Nuftyhead Whatshisname!

I do take the whole comment with a grain of salt given the it hasn't come up before in his rants, but at the same time the artwork would no doubt remain copyrighted and permission would be needed for it to be used. Given his comments in the media recently I'd make the prick jump through every damn hoop possibly before I let him use the artwork too.
