Classics Reborn

She seems to take her heritage seriously so I reckon hearing her music played at the Olympics for the boxer would have made her proud (and why not) so I'm sure she's happy with the path she took. the 2007 version of All We Are for the boxer wasn't as great as the original but shit if I'd have known it as being played on the Olympic telecast I'd have watched boxing :)

I reckon she must have a hell of a photo collection, nearly everyday she posts a pic on FB with someone from the metal world having a birthday.

No I don't think she ever has, she's definitely never done a solo tour but I don't remember her name appearing on any of the festival posters either. I think I'd have been more interested in the festivals if she was on the bill.

Going by all the gig clips she's posting on FB she's doing what Overkill do and playing smaller venues and getting in crowds that really get into the show. I don't reckon I've seen a clip from a venue with more than about 3000 people in it (although some are hard to tell), yet she's been touring the US with Metal Church and on her own for more than three months now. Even with days off that's an impressive gig list.

Our problem here is the distance, not just to get here but between gigs. Feasibly someone like Doro could play 5 shows in the same venues Overkill did (about 2000 cap), but it's pretty much two days out of the schedule to get here, flight time and recovery etc, unless you come from Japan or somewhere in Asia. Then you can do Melbourne Sydney, Brisbane in three nights but it would be hell on the band and crew. If they could organise the gigs in the right order Adelaide could be a fourth night, but gigs rarely happen in that order. Then to get to Perth it's at least five hours by plane, 20 by road. So even without rest it's easily a seven day trip to tour here. That's does make it hard, throw in some rest and recovery and you could easily spend two weeks here that could have seen 10 gigs in the US or Europe.

Yeah I agree both bands seem to be touring pretty smart. It is too bad they need festivals to play big crowds though. But I guess it is better for the show to fill the place with die hards.

Man that's gotta be frustrating that only the really big bands can afford to tour there on a regular basis. We need teleporters!

Yeah I'd much rather go to a small venue and have a great time than a festival and just see a band.

The thing is there is money to be made here, Overkill have done it, Metal Church are doing it. The international tour list for this year is huge, something like 20 international bands are here this year that we know of but it seems like there is a lot of bands who do think that if they aren't Metallica or Slayer there is no point touring. I understand the time factor but we have 4-5 months of good weather when the top half of the world gets snow if more bands were convinced to come in the northern hemisphere winter and do Aust, New Zealand and Japan, they would realise just viable it could be. Of course the majority of our promoters are money grabbing shits and make it harder to secure bands but that would be overcome with more bands pushing to come here.

Yep and despite that lying darn Madam Secretary a few months back saying different we are relative disease free too. You can come here and have a reasonably good chance of going home without extra diseases :)

No need for shirmps on the BBQ any more, we can do better on the advertising slogans. "Come to Australia, you wont go home with a new disease."

Holy crap lol! The more shit he slings the more defenders he gets.
It's Richie's fault he isn't back in JP? They have to keep HIM informed about what's going on with the board? He makes it sound like they owe him back in so he can leave something to his family. Didn't he say he basically had no family? And wtf, it's their fault his golf course failed? That's why he wants back.
