Yep, Hirax, Metallica and Megadeth all in one band.
Of course to make the Megadeth connection you have to believe that Gene swapped drum stools with Lee Rausch, (who played on the Last Rites Demo in 84). Rausch supposedly went to Dark Angel and Gene joined Dave Co. Several sites seem to claim this connection however I've never seen Dave or Gene talk about it and the Dark Angel time line seems to suggest Gene was drummer in 84 after Rausch so the idea that Gene played in Megadeth at all seems loose at best.
Nah, Rausch and Hoglan swapped places in Wargod and Dark Angel.
I don't think Tom will ever come back.
I wish Gene would've joined Megadeth but I don't think they ever played together. The period between Rausch leaving and Gar wasn't that long. I don't really count someone as being in a band unless they've at least played one show or recorded something. I guess a jam is possible but I think Gene would've mentioned it by now if it had ever happened. Gene wasn't into Megadeth's brand of metal at that time though. He was more into stuff like Possessed, Slayer, Sacrilege B.C., etc.
I do think Dave asked probably both the guitarists in Dark Angel to join around this time, as well as it seems most every Bay Area guitarist around that time.
KK thinks he will tour for 10 years on his own name and songwriting but the market doesn't want it. His new band will be as popular as whatever Phil Anselmo has going on at the moment, maybe even less so. Starting a new band when you're in your 50s is pretty much insane.
I think Tom knows that Jeff was the real songwriter in the band and that it's over. Both he and KK are trying to be classy and not discuss their rift in public. I think Tom had to be sweet-talked into continuing at all after Jeff died, but he agreed to a farewell album and tour. I see Tom never doing music again in any capacity.
That's cool.Yep, Hirax, Metallica and Megadeth all in one band.

I guess it depends on how much Kerry wants to tour. I think Phil would be good. But how long his voice could hold up is a question.I knew Bostaph would be the one to play drums in KK's new project. There are very few players who can play Slayer that well, and already have a track record of being a pro and dependable. Those Slayer audition videos are pretty eye-opening in that very few drummers could really do those songs perfectly.
The big question is vocals. I assumed it would be Phil Anselmo because they are buds but I think Phil is just not reliable or productive enough for KK to put up with.
My predicition: After a couple of albums, opening slots on tours, etc. KK will try to either get Tom back or try to take the "Slayer" band name for himself. I don't think Tom will ever come back.
Gene needs his own fucking box set!!Yes that swap was documented everywhere, it's the theory that Gene played in Megadeth, which while most sites tell us is wrong is documented on a few sites. It's those sites that I find interesting, not because people think they can be proven wrong, but because they got their information from somewhere. I've spent my spare time the last few weeks hunting out different demos, different back stories and different 'facts' about multiple bands and not only has it been interesting it's been fun because there are facts out there which many accept as correct that simply can't be. There is also many people out there who don't want to know their facts are inaccurate.
While Wargod's demo is okay I think what Meldrum did later, which wasn't as heavy but still hard was much better, Gene also kicked arse on the songs he did with her.
If he gets the right people I'll buy it till the plug is pulled. I don't need it to be the best thing I've ever heard. I don't want it to be stale either. I'll be happy as hell with some straight up thrash.KK thinks he will tour for 10 years on his own name and songwriting but the market doesn't want it.
