I'm halfway through that Dime interview at 15 and a half minutes the interviewer asks him about Alex Skolnick. He says people would go up to Alex and tell him he's too good for thrash and has that happened to Dime. Dime says no that he's just good enough for thrash. But then Dime kinda trashes him and technical playing for that matter. And says some stupid shit like anyone can play like that.
Dime was good, but Skolnick owns and plays with just as much feel as Dime.

I've always thought of trash talk between like players as spur of the moment silly talk (you know like Jnr telling people Mustaine invented thrash metal). It's the sort of thing no one really benefits from.

He does say after that he wished the interviewer wouldn't ask him about other players. Because he asks him to critique Kirk too.

Yeah I can agree with that. I also think musos (and politicians) should learn how to shut the fuck up when interviewers ask questions like that. Interviewing is easy if you ask question like "who's better Dio or Ozzy", or "who's better Randy or Zakk". Those sort of questions require no thought to come up with but don't make for a good interview and if musos just refused to answer them the interviewers would be forced to better themselves. But then easy questions, plus the possibility of a controversial answer that gets spread around the world is all interviewers care about these days.
