Classics Reborn

Not sure what it's like in the US but here the bastards who order the boxes then do the service have it all in their favour. They are the only people that can draw money from the estate of a dead person to recoup costs. Not even the benefactor of a will can draw money so fast from an estate. In this country most of the time the funeral directors pay themselves not wait to be paid like any other business.

On that cheery note I'm off to find lunch :)

Yeah we still all die so the mortality rate in Australian's is pretty high but some have learnt how to make money from it. These days even the cheapest death (inc. box, service, burial/cremation) will cost more than $10K and depending on where you get planted they can charge your family an on going fee, kind of like rental.

Looks like this might be the closest we get to something resembling SYL.

I still like listening to Devy and all the different things he comes up with but I wish he'd just do it and not talk about it. The more he talks about where new songs fit and what they mean the more it confuses me. I have no idea what he's doing I'll just listen to it when he does it :)

32 years since Doomsday For The Deceiver. I liked that album but have not listened to it in ages!

I really wanted to get into all his non SYL stuff. But I haven't. I know I won't sit there and listen to it. I'll be reaching for the heavy a few minutes after it starts.

A lot of his stuff is like Dark Side Of The Moon in headphones when stoned. You just need the time and peace to mellow out and listen to the whole thing from start to finish. The problem is finding the time. I've got to be in the right mood for Devy and I have found myself turning the CD off a few times because that mood wasn't there. If I only want to listen to a song or two of his I will usually go to SYL.

The 20th anniversary release is worth it. It really sounds much better. And gave it new life for me.

For some reason it's one of those albums that I just don't go back to when I'm hunting for something to listen to. It's a bit like Bonded In Blood I like that album when I put it on but if I'm hunting for something to listen to I seem to forget it's there.

I see on FB today Overkill are spruking 30 years for Under the Influence. Another decent album I forget to play. I've got Horrorscope going around in the car at the moment but I never thought of putting Under the Influence in when I changed them last and I was trying to show the kids what old school thrash was.

Yeah I put it on mainly for the kids 'education' because I think it showcases more of a classic old school sound. Under The Influence wouldn't do that but it's still a good album.
