Cob and HCD +7 string guitars

BTW, I play guitars for over 10 years, and still hate 7 strings (IN MY OPINION) (now i know, you all are gonna say i can't play guitar and don't know how to use a 7 string, well you're absolutely right, because i won't play things THAT I HATE!)

Your opinion is respected. I believe that the 7-string guitars are a part of progression.

Nobody has a problem with your opinion on 7-string guitars, just your ignorant comments about how they are for Nu-Metal bands (an incredibly immature comment) and the fact that you think a 7-string guitar makes a bad song...there are many examples to the contrary and the point is that it isn't what you use, but how you use it.

I think it's really a pity for CoB to have used 7 strings... IN MY OPINION, it gives th emusic just a little bit too much (nu-metal) balls... It's okay they tuned to D, But with normal 7string tuning, you also have a lower B string, i don't really like those really low tones... Sixpounder is 7 stringed, and i don't really count that one as a CoB song, sorry... But just listen to the intro... it's fucking nu-metal (IN MY OPINION!)

Anywazy my home build RR is just normal tuning EADGBE :p

Hope you aren't upset now, BECAUSE IT WAS JUST MY FUCKING OPINION!

Well, Rubenios. To be completely honest. I think you are actually the only one who's upset in this thread.

Others (at least me) are just making fun of you and provocing you to look at how pissed up you'll get.

And then my opinion.

I think that for example D5-powerchord sounds much better played with 7-stringed guitar than with 6-stringer tuned low.

It's just having that thicker string instead of floppy low-tuned E-string that does something to the sound. Even if the pitch is same.

But about those 7 strings, i honestly read they've used them, seriously...

Any dutch people who read the aardschok will agree with me...

I like getting pissed :p hehe, no i'm not upset, but if people react like this, i think it's a bit weird :D
hehe, anywayz 7strings suck (again in my opinion ;))

By the way, just listen to Lie from Dream Theaters Awake-album. Here's one fine example of using 7-stringer, both in rhytm playing and at the beginning of one amazing guitar solo.

in that interview they posted here Alexi said they doubled all the guitars and they even downtuned for Angels don't kill, but he didn't mention 7 strings

unless he forgot to mention it...

Oh Styg if you meant C as in downtuned 2 steps sorry, I thought you meant tune to the C major chord or something, hahaha... :)

And Rube, where the fuck did you read that Alexi used 7-strings. I know for a fact that he didn't...

If you set up your guitar with thicker guage strings (I use 10-52)
the E wont be floppy when tuned to D and it will sound just as good as a 7-string or better.

My opinion of 7 string guitars is that they suck. Im sure they're are plenty of good songs written for them but who the hell comes out of nowhere and changes the electric guitar after 50 years. I
dont think that a 7-stringer should even considered a guitar. Hopefully these guitars are just a passing trend That will be over in the next few years.

I'm sure COB did NOT use 7-string guitars, because some songs are C-tuned! Alexi said in the interview Zarok posted here from Metal Rules that they C-tuned the guitars for "Angels don't kill". I also recognized that in Sixpounder! Someone correct me, but I've never heard of a guitarist who tuned up (!) a 7-string! In my opinion they just tuned two halfnotes down for that two songs! It could be that Alexi and Ale used other guitar to play the rhythm-gits and Alexi played his solos with his own gits (I think that time his guitars were not yet stolen, correct me if I'm wrong)!
Maybe Janne could say something to that, because it interests my very much!

i like 7 strings because i have really big hands and the neck feels more comfortable, the downside being that i really dont use that low b all that much

Did anyone ever see alexi with another guitar(his guitar is that Jackson RR-LL)?So ,i don't think in 7 strings , he never will trade his guitar....But just one question, live CoB will play in his shows all songs with d tune? Like they do with Lake Bodom?

1. hmm ik zal de nieuwe Aardschok eens gaan halen, ik ben wel benieuwd :)

2. Good question.. most they're songs are in D.. aw well. maybe he'll switch guitar after a couple song.. Slayer etc and many others do that too so that won't be a problem..

1. Ah?!?!?!?!?!
2.i dont think so ,is like i said ,Alexi will never change his guitar.

If anyone had a photo of Alexi ,playing another guitar ,please post a link

Couple of interview's of Alexi, from Soundi and Inferno Magazine, in Finnish, Alexi said that they tuned down to C in the songs Sixpounder and Angels Don't Kill and the rest of the album is in D. He didn't mention anything from 7 string guitars!
