And you're a fucking idiot. I don't care if it's "your opinion" because you are wrong full stop. Music genres aren't opinion...otherwise I might as well say that Children Of Bodom are jazz CAUSE ITS JUST MY OPINION!

If anything, Sixpounder sounds a bit like Pantera, who, last time I looked weren't fucking nu-metal.

Please, do the world a favour and get a fucking clue.

 But what is the big deal...... even IF they wanted to use 7 strongs..... its no big deal its just another insturment haha

They may use extraordinary instruments for the metal scene as Amorphis did with the saxophone, but if the result is cool WHAT IS THE FUCKIN' PROBLEM. I don't care if they use carimbas, sitars(I *LOVE* this instrument), mpouzouki(greek folk instument) or cello. Of course it whould be a little shocking like the use of violin and flute did in the past but if the result is OK is OK;)

i think i overreacted a bit because Petrucci uses 7 strings, and i can't stand people bashing DT :D

But damn, you can have your oppinnion and don't like it, but saying it's nu-metal shit.... its wrong :p
If 7 strings started to be used AFTER all of this numetal crap appeared, i think you could say that... but that's not what happened.

And the intro riff of sixpounder does sound like Machine Heads more nu-metalish songs. Or then nu-metal sounds like Pantera.

I find this whole "no nono it can't sound nu-metalish 'cause nu-metal sucks"-things quite amusing for some reason.

And about string gauge.. When we get to thick enough E-string that we tune down to D and play that same powerchord sounding like 7-stringer. Well, what's the fuzz about 7-stringers sucking, it's the same freaking pitch there.

anyway as said before, if they used 7 strings, they tuned UP a step. cob must be setting a new trend! omg!

Maybe I'm just simple and haven't actually played guitar for 8 years as I remember doing.

But why should they have tuned UP even if they used 7-stringers? It actually comes in my mind that they could have, well, like not used open B-string at all and instead played those low chords and notes from like some other position?

Like does that sound like impossible like?

Like not having to play the lowes note guitar can reach in every song at all?

I know it's scary thought for every heavy metal guitarists...

I've always said that I think 7 string guitars are stupid, not because they're associated with nu-metal, but because you really shouldn't play one unless you've mastered the 6 string guitar, which most players haven't done. Plus, you really only get 5 extra notes!

That said... I think CoB have definitely shown themselves to be technically proficient on 6 strings, so grabbing an extra string is no big deal.

Also, I bet there aren't even 7 string guitarso n there. Maybe they tuned down to C or C# (which actually is what they tuned to on "Something Wild" I'm pretty sure) so it sounds heavier.
