I was going to suggest Darkthrone but u beat me to it. im listening to the albums tonight while i play poker online... other then that i would suggest

Emperor: In the Nightside Eclipse
Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk

and i know i will get flamed for this one but :

Immortal : Sons of Darkness lol :loco:

as for Mayhem's first album... loved the music hated the vocals.. wish they would of dug up Dead to do the vocals for that one or had Maniac do them..

Manes - Under Ein Blodraud Maane
Ulver - Nattens Madrigal
Immortal - Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism
Graveland - In the Glare of Burning CHurches

I second all of these and also recommend:

Belketre - March To The Black Holocaust
Darkthrone - Under A Funeral Moon
Darkthrone - Transilvanian Hunger
Hate Forest - Scythia
Graveland - Carpathian Wolves
Kadotus - Seven Glorifications Of Evil
Mysticum - In The Streams Of Inferno
Sacrilegium - Wicher
Sortsind - Sår

I strongly second the suggestion for Pure Holocaust, TWWTG, and especially In the Nightside Eclipse, which is by far the coldest album I've heard.

DMDS is vastly overrated.

I don't find Darkthrone to be all that cold, but it's outstanding nonetheless.

so why don't you suggest albums that do what that I.C.E. album attempts, but actually succeed? i.e. immortal "battles in the north" and so forth

not that immortal is black metal, but neither is I.C.E. so i'm going to be a little bit liberal with the definitions here
Even Pure Holocaust is not considered black metal? You lost me here.

Isn't it a little bit cliche to automaticaly associate Satan to every black metal bands?

I thought Black metal could be about anything and that it was the music that counts to label a band.
