Coming out of the closet- Pirating no more for me

Cool thread. I had a old old bundle of Waves gold (Mac OS9 version) I couldn't use in OSX, and I contacted Waves. Explained why I never upgraded.... and they gave me a KICK ASS deal to upgrade to OSX versions --this was last year-- So I did and grabbed two plugin bundles I use 99% of the time now----> SSL Bundle and the L3-16 :OMG:

Going all legit is great because if your plugins fucks up.... you have someone to call or contact! This week, when I finish this job.... my plugins will finally pay themselves off!!

Another GREAT Bundle of KILLER plugins is the DUY Everpack!! Check these out Friends!!!! Their tape plugin alone is worth the price.

Tritone makes great plugins also.

And These Guys make a BAD ASS EQ! The BX Digital!

with stuff like voxengo, Kjearhus, digital fish phones, etc. theres really no need for waves ( waves are good/great but the indie alternatives out there are awesome as well and waves PACE protection can be a nightmare)..

plus most of todays hosts come with enough great plug-ins to do a complete mix on ( cubase, reaper, sonar all have enough good stuff)

good decision. you will appreciate the software you bought way more that way.
I really enjoy using channelstrip, waves API etc cause I had to save up for them and really decide to buy them. makes you use the stuff way more conciously than just downloading everything and using tons of different eq just cause you've got them.

that way you have to think about what you really wanna spend money on/buy and you'll learn to really use it and to appreciate it.

Only issue is money is so tight since I'm a broke college mother fucker.

Educational discounts tremendously help. Revalver MKII is 50% off if you are a student. Cubase Studio 4 cost me $199, and Steinberg let's you use it for commercial purposes even.

Also there are so many good free plugins out there (the free amp sims are fantastic these days). I'm a firm believer that mixing skill far is more important than expensive hardware or plugs. That being said, there are a few things that are almost necessary. Decent monitors, a decent audio interface, and a decent computer which can all be had for the price of the price of a new amp head. Also, if you can make good sounding mixes from minimal equipment, imagine how great your mixes will sound when you can actually afford all the high-class stuff.
