Comparison: Tape vs. HEAT

Here are two little drum clips comparing A Studer 2" and PT HEAT.

I just used the HEAT function slightly (2 clicks to the left) and I didn't use the tone adjustment of it, so it might be brighter/darker than the tape clip, depending on how the tape machine was biased etc....try to not give too much attention to the brightness, but listen to the harmonic and dynamic contents of the clips.

This is a blind test for now

I didn't "Mix" much, I just adjusted levels a bit and have some minor EQ and comp on the tracks, in both cases all that is post-tape (heat set to "pre").
 
clip 2 has more punch. more bottom. more everything.even seems louder than 1.
2 sounds more natural (regarding harmonic and dynamic content)

i think 2 is tape (and 1 db louder :).
 
I think 2 is HEAT, honestly. seems cleaner, more pristine. But for all we know your minor eQ and comp could be used to fool us all ;)
