Concerts Setlist - Paradise Lost Tour

The ??? was Evolution - The Grand Design, so the complete Setlist was:

Frankfurt, 20.02.08

Oculus ex Inferni
Set the World on Fire
Domination
Serpent's Kiss
Masquerade
Inferno
Paradise Lost
The Walls Of Babylon/ Death of Balance
Smoke and Mirrors
Evolution - The Grand Design
Revelation/DWOT Part VII- Paradise Regained
-------------------
Eve of Seduction
Sea Of Lies

They played Walls of Baylon in it's entirety - no cutting there. I don't remember any segueing into Death of Balance - it was "just" played afterwards :)

I was very happy that they played Paradise Lost slower than last time, I saw them on the tour with Dream Theater last year. The way they played it then, it lost much of it's effect - this way it was much more haunting in the chorus!
The show was good, even though Russel said that he was a bit sick, but still wanted to give his best and to not dissappoint anyone.

Yeah - and they "fieped" (say feeped) a lot during the show (fieped is the german word for the overdrive beeping sound) - someone from the audience mentioned it between songs and Russel immediately tried out the sound of the word - "what is it? we feep? I feep??" - it was quite funny - :D

And I recognized for the first time, how many plectrums Romeo uses up during a show (and during some songs! - I don't know which one it was, but I think he flung away about three or four between solos and took new ones from his microphone stand during that one song alone ;) )

For the sound itself, I still think that during the shows of all three bands (with Dreamscape and Circus Maximus delivering very good shows, too! I especially dig how Circus Maximus sings harmonics with up to all five band members!!) the keyboards are drowned out too much when the guitar and bass are playing heavily, which is a pity, when you see the keyboarder playing his ass off while hearing not one note of it during the louder parts of the songs.

But still - the show was killer and I was really happy (and exhausted) afterwards!

Jesus Christ...I just had a heart attack at the amazingness of this setlist. If they were to replace Masquerade or Smoke and Mirrors with either Egypt or Wicked I would pass out. Other than that its flawless.

I hope they'll replace smoke and mirrors (I've seen sx play it 3 times...) with through the looking glass..
And I hope for Candlelight :)

I've been barking up that tree for years now. Dream Theater manages a mix where the keys have a perfect amount of presence, it can be done.

dude, plectrums = picks? I doubt I'll ever use the word pick again in that context, plectrum is 30x cooler.

For the record, they have a brand-new-to-them sound guy with them on this tour, and they left for Europe just 2 days before the first show (allowing for virtually zero rehearsals with the guy) so give him a chance to get comfortable with the guys and the music. Already there's been a significant reduction in complaints about the sound compared to this point in the last two tours, so I'd say he's doing a decent job so far.

The sound was fine at the show in Frankfurt. The keyboard could have been a bit louder but I've seen much worser sound setup on much "better" bands (or bands you'd expect to have a better setup :loco: ). Only thing was the "feeping".. Quite annoying. But this could be a problem with the location. I don't know much about these things, but the stage was very small and the boxes didn't seem to be well arranged.
Maybe the team has learned from this and they arrange everything better the next show.
But I went well with it. I enjoyed the show and it was one of the best shows I've ever senn :worship:

So they haven't played Through the Looking Glass again? That makes me a sad panda :(

They played it in Berlin on the 19th :D Including the vocal harmony as in the Live album and other bits of crowd interaction etc. Was fun!

I got quite excited when Masquerade started and tried to explain, over the volume, to my girlfriend in 5 seconds or less why it was so awesome. I failed, but I saw Masquerade.

Thank God. I wasn't crazy about the other sound guy.

As for the setlists - YES!! Masquerade and Smoke and Mirrors are a must, and I can't wait to see Revelation/DWOT. I hope they keep it this way for the US tour.
