From someone with experience:

1. No drug is either safe or harmful. Dosage, environment and person determine this.
2. Dope slows your mental maturity, but can aid concentration and innovation.
3. Dope has a short period of high and a long period of "unk."
4. About 2% of the population can use it wisely, and for the rest, it's just slightly hallucinogenic beer.
5. I think the seeds should be legal, and its sale punished by death. If you can't get your act together to grow, harvest and cure a plant, you shouldn't be smoking it because you are DYSFUNCTIONAL and need to be taken away to a death camp.

All IMHO, but none unqualified.
Norsemaiden, I'm not sure dope is as dangerous on the roads unless mixed with alcohol, which is a stupefactive combination.
I wouldn't take any drug -- cigs, booze, dope or even aspirin if I could avoid it -- while carrying a child. Or creating one as a male.

Most dope users are retards, but so are most people. Correlation?

The most brilliant writer after 1950, William S Burroughs, was a lifelong dope fiend. Coincidence?

I am more worried about the larger problems than distractions like drug, abortion and civil rights.

The drug war is a failure. 80 years and we're no closer to winning than day 1. This country is litteraly losing two wars.

and if we can live in a society where alcohol and tobacco are legal. Two of the most destructive and addctive substances known to man. I'm sure weed can fit in perfectly. Cocaine a close second. or maybe mushrooms.

Xorv posted a reasonable question on the other thread:

Drug Policy Alliance: Myths and Facts About Marijuana

Freevibe. Main Page

"[T]hey both say the exact opposite [of each other]. Which one is right?"

I think it's valid.

In my experience, most drug problems are the user, not the drugs, but I don't trust most people drawn toward using drugs. A few, maybe a couple percent, are like Oscar Wilde, William Burroughs, Hunter S Thompson or Samuel Taylor Coleridge and are not only responsible but do interesting things on drugs. I think only geniuses should be able to get and use drugs!

So true.

Honestly Marijuana has more beneficial qualities than bad. The government doesent want pot legalized because it is a plant.. and can be produced on ones own accord rather than having to buy it in a drug store or liquor store.
If you wanted to you could buy tons of bottles of medicine that could impair you to the point where you are a danger to others while driving.. or even kill you if you took enough.. Bassically the government doesent want us to have our own drugs for medicinal purposes so we have to buy theirs. You can't get a prescription of marijuana for headache or nausea. So we have to buy that cheap shitty store medicine. The system is fucked man :erk:

Cigarettes and tobacco are not synonymous. Smoking two packs a day of the half tobacco/half chemicals and other shit that is mass produced is entirely different than smoking real tobacco in moderation like it should be. And if people blame their smoking on "nicotine addiction," which they do in this day of "nothing is my fault," they are failures as human beings.

As for marijuana: It is a plant that has been cultivated for a very long time, if you choose to use it responsibly then that is your choice and I find it OK.

I voted yes it should be legalized, because there are many good uses for it, but I don't think it's a good drug. I smoked pot on & off for about 10 years and it absolutely killed my motivation. I spent so much time sitting about in oblivion that when I finally quit I felt like I'd been reborn. It affected my ability to deal with all sorts of stuff in my life. It also took a long time to get out of the stoner mindset. I can't hang out with my friends who still smoke all the time because they basically bore the shit out of me.

Just too bad few know the difference between cigs and real tobacco. As you say.....and I don't trust your word, but I know little about tobacco.

Of course they should be legal. It's utterly ridiculous to spend all of the time, money and resources we do to keep people from smoking a fucking plant. I mean really... how many marijuana related deaths are there a year? There are WAY more alcohol and tobacco related deaths per year and those are legal. It's absolutely absurd to jail people for years for smoking a plant or selling it when rapists and thieves, etc. often get out in months. I have no interest in marijuana but I see no compelling reason to make it illegal. If it needs to be regulated or only smoked in perscribed areas... fine. But our 'war on marijuana' is a huge waste of time.

ever thought your friends are just boring?

Marijuana don't cause bordem. People do.

Bullshit. I've seen pot hold people back from reaching their potential time and time again. People who are extremely talented who spend years doing fuck all while they smoke pot all the time and when they finally quit, all of a sudden they start doing things like socialising more, and achieving the things they haven't been bothered with because they were too busy being stoned.

I think this is a very valid point as I have had a similar situation.

I really think that it can be as easy as the reward system. You get what you need to get done then smoke. If it becomes the top priority, in the case of an addiction, that is where the problems start. if you were already lazy, then it just makes it that much harder to become motivated. As a side note, alcoholics are much worse, because alcohol impairs your thoughts and actions severely. Abuse and neglect are common side effects of alcohol whereas Marijuana is only an altered state of mind, albeit a very inwardly focus for many which causes the silence zombie like mode. It is very much like a trance state achieved in hypnosis. You can focus so well that the outside events may be missed.

Ya, pot really must keep them caged. It'll whip them if they walk outside. it all makes sense.

Yeah the reward system works for some people. But it's hard to keep a constant rule going. Some people can do it though. Then again some people manage to smoke constantly and still function pretty much normally.

Oh har har. Your sarcastic wit is so very biting.

how sow? that makes even less sense. If you're too stoned to doing anything, you must be smoking some good ganja.

Why should I bother trying to have any sort of discussion with you if you're just going to make puerile comments?
