Controversial opinions on metal

Probably not controversial but: Amorphis - Silent Waters is a good album.

Listened to it while lifting today and thought to myself "wow, this is better than the last time I listened to it."

weirdly I had the precise same revelation while also lifting

exercise: the key to appreciating Silent Waters.

I got Ire Works for Christmas once.

I wanted to rip out a baby's heart and shove it up somebody's asshole.

And I heard one good song from Miss Machine (Sunshine the Werewolf), but didn't care for the rest at all.

Guess I'll try the others you mentioned. I'm doubtful though.

Miss Machine has different vocalist than previous stuff... I do find it good though. You definitely need to check their earlier albums.
Their new release is good too, though I realize that all their albums are very different.

Miss Machine is their best album, imo. The new one has a couple interesting songs, but nothing special. You're spot on, each TDEP album is very different.

They're a weird band tbh. Some great stuff, some awful stuff.

Here's some of my premeditated blasphemy:

Iron Maiden sucks, I never liked a single song from them. I do however respect them.

Judas Priest never clicked with me either, but I have huge respect for them.

Death Magnetic was actually a good album.

Pantera is fucking awesome. (Not really that controversial, but they get a lot of shit on this forum)

United Abominations is Megadeth's best album. That's right, it beats even Rust In Peace etc.

Destruction's Thrash Anthems is great, just like Testament's First Strike Still Deadly.

Slayer made a great comeback to form with Christ Illusion.

That's pretty much it.
