Cowboys & Aliens

Another good alien based movie is Men In Black. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think one of the main reasons I liked both Independence Day as well as Men in Black is Will Smith. I suppose they could have gotten anyone, but it's just the added comedy element that didn't suck that made them more enjoyable. Tommy Lee Jones and Smith made a great pair too. Men in Black also has a phenomenally stellar soundtrack. Gotta love Danny Elfman. The cool thing about it too is that despite it being 14 years old, most of the effects really stand up even today, and look better than much of the CGI shittfest that's in "modern" movies. Please, if you can't afford to hire ILM don't bother. Stick to silicone.

i don't consider Men In Black to be an "alien" movie
MIB is a comedy that has aliens in it
kinda like how the Twilight movies aren't really "vampire" movies
they're romance movies that have vampires in them

Then what exactly is your definition of an alien movie, because it doesn't get any more alien based than that? If you're talking about sci-fi action/adventure, or horror then it's not really any of those, but it's kind of like saying Shuan of the Dead or Zombieland are not zombie movies.

Will Smith is pretty decent, overall. He's covered a lot of ground, acting wise, when you look over his career. And done a pretty good job, too.
and then his little bastard spawn starred in a disgusting film about a punk ass kid who learns kung fu from jackie chan in china but hey lets call it KARATE FUCKING KID just to shit all over a beloved classic and make a few bucks on name recognition i hope the ghost of mr miyagi haunts their fucking mansion every night and makes him pee the bed

goddamn family of jerks

I had no idea that was his son. He's also pretty decent for his age; but when both of your parents are actors, you'd better be.

sorry for the confusion
what i meant was that MIB was a comedy movie, and i consider it to be a whole seperate type of movie from the alien movies that are not comedies

i would say MIB is funnier/less funny than other comedies
but i don't like saying MIB is better/worse than alien movies that aren't comedies

Hmm, did any of you know about this?

Ridley Scott returned to direct a sort of Alien prequel. The cast involved looks fantastic too (Guy Pearce, Charlize Theron and Michael Fassbender among others), so hopefully this doesn't turn out to be another Cowboys vs Aliens, or Alien vs Predator...

I didn't pay close enough attention, but it did look an awful lot like a bunch of random clips from other movies. Still, it's already in post production so a real trailer should be out in the next few months anyway. The movie is supposed to be out next summer.
