Crane Song Phoenix II - now native!

Is someone here willing to post samples using it in/on a metal mix? That would be highly appreciated :)
What do you expect? It's a quality plugin
I have some "quality plugins" and hardware gear and I am willing to pay for good quality - but this price for a single, decade old plugin that now only supports a single native format? I think the price is a little high.
Especially since I wasn't able to find any samples or shoot-outs with it. I just saw you can contact them / him to get a demo.. guess I will see if that works out.
Has anybody compared it directly to more or less similar plugins like the Kush Audio UBK-1, VCC, the UAD Ampex / Studer and Waves Kramer / MPX plugins, etc? I just found one shootout vs a Fatso.

There's a reason why it's ten years old, got big, used by all the pros etc DESPITE its really cheap look.
a before/after won't really help you much, it's subtle and adds up in a mix, but it certainly makes a difference..
I've compared it so some of the competitors, and phoenix slays them all.

Kush UBK1 isn't similar to phoenix...etc since it's a compressor plugin;)

Anyway, I have Heat, phoenix, decapitator and tape head from Massey. All sound different.
But what I use on every mix is Heat and phoenix on top of that on lot of individual track (drum shell, bass and vocal mostly).
Decapitator get less use, but sometimes it work for vocal and drum shell put on top of what I wrote before.
Tape head is great, but kinda like a one trick pony that only work on some track. Not really subtle but when it work...

same here, HEAT and Phoeix in every project.
sometimes AC2 on the 2bus instead of Phoenix (very rarely though).
Used to use AC1 before I got Phoenix....hven't touched it since.
decapitator only for special effects etc

Yeah... That's why I made this a while ago, but didn't have time (or will) to contact Mr. Hill and see if he's interested in facelifting the plugin

Have you used the UBK-1? I Know it's a compressor, but I was talking about the saturation and density controls. From what I gathered some people use it for those more then the compressor. But I haven't used it that's why I'm asking. Also, the other tape emulations most probably all have a certain compression too of course, depending on how hot you drive it.

Thanks for sharing your experiences, and thanks to you Lasse, too.
Well I did actually, right after I posted that image here (since I realized that I had a stupid excuse for not doing it earlier:))... But nothing so far. It's not like I'm expecting something, but it would be nice to get a positive feedback though :)
Haha exactly what I thought, why not take the 20 seconds to send it ;)
Your designs are always awesome, I hope he answers your mail.

Yes I use it every day;)
Density do something that still remain voodoo for me. Greg wrote a cool thing about it on gearslutz but can't really remember it atm.
Of course you can use the saturation alone, but never tryed since I always have Heat on no matter what.
UBK1 is something like a fatso with different possibility. Of course you can squach track and get this in your face sound (but most plugin comp can do that), while still have character and vibe. But the most interesting thing this can do is gluing tracks together, and put those track from front to back.
I don't know any other plugin that can do that. Kinda the same effect you get when you put a 2254 on bg vx (put with an other sound of course).

You really need to try it Max;)
