what is the name and what is with the cross that every one wears such as dimmu and dark fortress. i think its called the maltese cross but i dont know the significance.

Yes. I think Dimmu Borgir use a stylised version of the maltese cross, although it's arguably a cross formy or patee. But I think it is the maltese cross that it's based on.

the Iron Cross is a cross formy though, otherwise called a cross pattée.

yeah the one that dimmu and dark fortress use is the iron cross wich is just a different looking version of the maltese, so what is with it, i am trying to find out
ive got it, the maltese cross and the iron cross are two differetn things and not just different styles of the same cross. the maltese cross was used by christian knights in the 14 century and the iron cross was given to soldiers in Germany that were extremely brave and courageous in battle so i guess band members use this as a sign that they are brave and powerful and thats why i see the more epic and battle oriented bands showing this sign cause no pussy bands that are about romance or anything are going to be powerful

err, yeah perhaps or they just thought it made a good logo. The cross formy was in existence way before Germany incorporated it into their honours system though, so you can't really attribute a single meaning to it as a heraldic device.
