Cryptopsy....

@Plato-some of the best new Cryptopsy songs are; Emaciate, Cold Hate Warm Blood, and Faceless Unknown off of the Whisper Supremecy album (some of these songs include sweep picking) ...and Then it Passes, We Bleed, and Shroud off of the ...And Then You'll Beg album. Enjoy.

Cryptopsy is one of my favourite bands ever, and they keep amazing me with each album. As for the DiSalvo/Worm issue I think DiSalvo has some qualities, but he can in no way match the supreme Lord Worm. LaCroix is pretty good, and he actually use some of Worms vocal tricks like the inwards screaming and such.

Heh... Moron. Have you ever really listened to their music? I guess you're one of those "I've-heard-one-song-and-i-don't-like-it-so-this-band-sucks" people. Try listening to some songs off of "...And Then You'll Beg" or "Whisper Supremacy" and then tell me that Cryptopsy's music isn't complex.

Still one of the best technical death metal bands in my opinion. NSV is still my favorite, and I didn't care for DiSalvo's vocals either, but the music has become more intricate and complex, so they make up for it somewhat. LeCroix seems a step up from DiSalvo, so I definitely would like to hear the new material they have to offer.

Lord Worm era kicked ass. Everything since has sucked (Fuck you Micheal DiSalvo!).

I hope the new guy growls like he's actually in a deathmetal band (the live album he was in seemed pretty good......I have high hopes).

Amazing band indeed; and about the sweep pickings; doesnt Levasseur do that in the Phobophile solo, a lot?

ERIC LANGLOIS OWNS YOUR GROOVING ASS!

You are correct suh. I was wrong about Slit Your Guts having one, but Phobophile and the song We Bleed have them.

I agree that Lord Worm is totally overrated. There's literally dozens of bands that I can think of (and likely hundreds in existence) who can grunt and growl as deep as or deeper than Lord Worm. Cryptopsy is just the band that everyone knows with that sort of vocalist that's all. There's lots of good deep grunters/growlers who are just more interesting than Lord Worm too, but he got the job done.

As for DiSalvo..............

Amongst the lamest of death metal vocalists ever.

I admit to not having read any of DiSalvo's words (I've only pushed myself to purchase Blasphemy Made Flesh and None So Vile up until this point) but, bah, he couldn't growl at all. Lyrics.....hmmm, I actually liked Lord Worm's lyrics.....there was some interesting takes on the violence going-on, some nifty ideas....and he also had quite a refreshingly large vocabulary....so Cryptopsy were already a little ahead of plain gore-lyric bands. Ye know what though? I've always thought that DiSalvo sounded like some hardcore or nu-metal vocalist.....but not only that, a downright bad one. However if his lyrics are good, then i'll look into it. I've been listening to more latter day Cryptopsy and i'm slowly getting used to DiSalvo [read:learning to ignore him and only listen to the music] so I might get some more Cryptopsy in the coming year/s.

Well unless they plan on having DiSalvo and Lacroix sharing a stage during shows, then I suspect you're likely right. ;o)

They never officially said they booted DiSalvo because they thought he sucked (at least not in any plain words) but I reckon they had a pretty good idea that the metal world was less than orgasmically enthusiastic about his vocals.

I don't think it was anything to do with the depth of growl for Lord Worm which made him so popular, I think it was definatly more about style. The way he would shape his growls to make them sound slightly different and also the fact that they were completly indecipherable which does make the vocals slightly more interseting.

I do agree that Disalvo sucks though.
I have been a bit put off Lacroix though by watching the live show which the live album is recorded from and seeing the very annoying way he acted and novelty ways he sometimes sounded, I can't really consider him as a good vocalist yet, I will have to hear the new album, but he is certainly is better than Disalvo.

I don't find indecipherable vocals worth much interest or praise; far too many bands have vocalists like that anyway. Compared to the rather vast death/grind scene, Lord Worm doesn't really stand-out.

I agree, after hearing the live album i must say i do like Lacroix a lot actually, he is able to similar stuff to lord worm, while being more comprehendable. Much better than DiSalvo, and i have a feeling (although you can kick my ass later if im wrong), that the album with Lacroix will blow the Lord Worm era out of the water because there is no denying the music got even more rediculous, and the vocals are like a huge step up from DiSalvo, but we will have to see.

Does anyone know the stuff that he was saying in between songs in french? Martin, I mean. Maybe it was something cool? Or not.

Am I reading all this right? People listen to deathmetal, and are complaining about vocals in which you cant decipher every sylable?
