Cubase 4 monitoring issue

Hey guys,

I have a guitar student who is using Cubase 4 on a OSX with a presonus firestudio. He is having a problem I have never heard of.

When he plugs in anything to any of the inputs on the presonus, he can hear it without the "monitor" button being selected. When the monitor button on the track is selected, you hear it but with more latency.

So, for example, when his guitar is plugged in, he hears the DI signal and then with a VST as an insert, he hears both.

He needs to be able to disable hearing the DI when monitor is not selected


If anyone knows how to fix this it would be a big help

There is a Mix or monitor knob on the Firestudio. Turn that all the way to the right.

he also hears the di when cubase is not open. i believe the problem is outside of cubase when cubase 4 is not open.

any ideas?

it's the firestudio control panel. He needs to mute the inputs.
