God! So tempted on this, but being in the middle of a mixing session am afraid it might fuck everything up, as I remember reading they were gonna revamp the whole automation... and having shit tons of automation I cant risk it

Yeah don't test out new software in the middle of a session. I am holding off for that reason.

From what people have been posting on the forum, 5.5 does amazing things for Mac users. Super tempted to try it out - not really mid-project for anything but my own material.

So far so good, no complaints, seems a bit more CPU efficient, but the big improvements were supposed to be for 4/8 cores, and I'm just on my MBP at the moment.

Awesome just downloaded and updated and i can tell you right away my load up time for songs has been cut in half!

Running it atm and have had no issues.. not sure if it works better then before, but hey atleast its not worse

So far I'm experiencing like a 5-10% decrease in usage, but thats on a Core2Duo - the real test will be on 4/8 core machines, as that's where they said the improvements will be seen most.

Wow, IMO an increase in CPU usage over what C5 was to start off with is unacceptable. I'm running i7 so that apparently won't affect me, but I just can't believe that the standard DAW uses so much over C4.

I think he means an increase in EFFICIENCY, not usage. As in, a decrease in usage.

My bad! I meant decrease, as in less CPU load, increased efficiency!

I'm backing up my boot drive right now and I'm going to update. Screw it, live dangerously once you've backed up your drive twice!

installed it today and my faderport started working which was amazing! Before I did a reboot none of the F key commands were working and the mixer disappeared half way off the screen but really stable after a reboot and everything just seems a bit more streamline.
Did think exports took longer though but don't think thats a bad thing.
Gonna have to get my head around the new look in the drum editor that dazed me for a second and I'm loving the new start up options. The dream

I am really liking the new look. And, it does seem to have improved a bit in terms of less CPU load.

I'll let you all know if something comes up, but otherwise it is all good

I installed it and there is an improvement in CPU utilization. They made a bunch of GUI "improvements" too, I'm not sure I like all of them.

Man, glad to hear this. I'm mid session for my bands new CD, but I'm not to the mixing stage yet, still reamping guitar tracks. On a C2D processor, so the extra 5-10% is needed. thanks for the heads up!
