flac support is great, pay again for 90% useless shit (for me is pain in the ass... i'll wait for 7 or start using windows 98's audio recorder like i did in the beginning

Got 6.5. It seems a lot more CPU hungry when using FLAC files. Not as noticeable on the i7 as on the mac mini Core2.

I'm trying to update based off the grace period update and I keep getting an error that says cubase 6 setup failed. Error: 1603
I tried uninstalling the first version I have on there and that won't even uninstall its saying that there is a string error.

I already have the new serial for my e licenser, I just need the install. I even tried downloading the install 3 different times

Anyone know what I should do?


*also posted it in the steinberg forum, but hopefully you guys can get me some faster answers

My friend got the update. The 2 new synths are decent.

The 2 new plugins are pretty much as worthless as you get (complete nonsense).

All the other small stuff is cool, looks like it supports almost twice as many file types as it used to.

I had the same error code when i tried to install 6.5 and remove 6.xxx.
I manually deleted Cubase 6 (backup your presets!) and used Eusing Free Registry Cleaner (removed Cubase from registry). Then installed Cubase 6 from my dvd and then 6.5 update with everything but Cubase 6.5 disabled from install menu.
Install the rest later when 6.5 is working. Removed my elicencer dongle and restarted computer and dongle back (should automaticly start searching for drivers). I think these were the steps i somehow managed to get it working.

thanks for the info! yea i dont remember what the other plugin was but i remember the dj eq and i dont see why id wanna use it.
Id like to try the synth tho, but very happy about the formats

It's DJ eq (fucking garbage, fixed 3 band parametric and IIRC you can't even change the q, like I said fucking stupid) and the other was Morph Filter, again seemed completely useless.

But I do think the synths are not that bad. The Mushuggah amp rack settings sound like ass .

My friend liked them though, but that's because he really likes the bad. They could have 10/0/10'd an amp and he would have liked it. haha

Anyhow, I'm not upgrading. I'll be waiting for 7. I've been more than content with 5 this long so I don't see the need to shell $200 yet.

The only reason why i bought Cubase 6 was that Steinberg announced it to be a 64bit DAW. A disappointing decision. Even the (non-existing) Steinberg-support recommends to install Cubase 6 as 32bit version because they have no solution for the issues regarding rewire-functionality and external 32bit VST-Plugins.

And now €50 for 64bit rewire??? Something that Cubase 6 was already supposed to have? And how can i know it's working after the upgrade? Because Steinberg says so? Very funny! I think i'll wait if this problem is solved with the next update. No more money from me to Steinberg!

almost forgot about the meshuggah settings. Actually you know what i still havent tried the vst amp rack. So i was kinda wondering if the effetcs in it at least are good; i probably should try it soon.

I finallly got the update working but now I downloaded the 6.5 and 6.51 update and whenever I try to program drums or work on a project with drum midi, whenever I click a midi note on the drum editor Cubase crashes. It crashes whenever I try using Addictive Drums or SSD4.

Is anyone else having similar issues with when working with the drum editor?


edit- bug fixed, I just trashed the preferences
