"Cult" u.s. metal

Where's Tim when ya need him? I want to know the story with that supposed LP re-issue and if I should just Buy It Now before someone else does!

Listening now....very cool. Erik, seems like a whole new world is opening before you from the 70's, heh.

By the way, this guy's voice is smooth as silk. Love it.

I just bought the LP reissue of this album off Ebay, which is cool cause apparently even the reissue's pretty rare!

edit: Erik, did you ever check out Manilla Road? DO IT!

edit the IInth: HOLY FUCK the bass on this ruuules a lot!

Thing is, aesthetics like guitar tone aside, this really doesn't sound very 70's. I mean, well it does, but it's well before its time with the super epic feel and stuff I reckon

Yeah, from a studio sound perspective, you really can't discriminate between 1978-1982, even though there was a change of era/decade. I mean, just listen to the first Pagan Altar album as example.

sound aside LEGEND RLZ

Not TOO much wrong with the sound, is there? Nice lead-guitar tone, clearly audible bass, rhyhthm kinda quiet... cymbals aside, the drums are way too low in the mix, but I find little enough to fault with this sound!

haha, sorry man, didn't mean to touch such a sensitive spot with you! it was just the way you worded it that made it seem like you were saying "Legend rules aside from their sound"

Now we are in agreement that they RULE!

Both LEGENDS rule. I have the LEGEND UK coming in any day now. Two of the best NWOBHM (studio, ya anal bastards) albums ever written. Some days I like them better than IRON MAIDEN and KILLERS.

LEGEND US rules also... I will stock this as soon as the CD comes out.

Sending Jay Keeley's comps yes, that's 2 comps going out tomorrow.

There so many cool acts out there that people need to dig up.

RIPPER - ...And The Dead Shall Rise
SLAUTER XSTORYES - Winterkill
SLAUTER XSTROYES - Free The Beast

to name a few.

Goat Horn was the best show I've ever been too. I mean A KEG ON FIRE, A KEG ON FIRE!

Are you from Toronto? I've seen Goat Horn twice (3rd time = April 30th, release party for their new EP "Threatening Force") and they fucking DESTROYED the place each time! Great band, live and in the studio!

"From The Fjords" is a top notch masterpiece.-
That Ripper album Evil Legend mentioned is sweet, but few will appreciate his .. "Special" vocals.
I think most people here will like Satan's Host (which Evil Legend mentioned in his other thread), and Titan Force (Tyrant's other 2 bands, apart from Jag Panzer). Especially Satan's Host, who are really hellish heavy metal with pure terror atmosphere.

What about Satan (UK)'s "Court in the Act" and "Suspended Sentence"?

I've only heard the first one, but it sounded kinda unique, and pretty damn good!

Well I believe each member of the band takes turns singing each song. Some of those vocals are so fucking high!!!

TYRANT'S REIGN - S/T!!!!! is some serious ripping thrash with high falsettos!!

IOfTheStorm - is there anything left out there that you haven't heard!? :loco: Man, we dig out some rare releases and you're like, "yeah, I've had that for years".

Yes, I want to hear Satan and yes I want to hear Liege Lord. And both Legends. Goddamn this is never ending....

I just didnt waste my time on black metal etc
:loco:
The thing is that american heavy metal is a really vast territory with lots of unknown killer bands, some of them only released a demo (example: Apollo Ra), and of course they were lost. You'll find out that some of these are not that rare as you think of.
