Machete was pretty unruly, yeh the final battle maybe wasnt as awesome as a lot of the earlier action, but really, WHAT could live up to that opening scene?!

AND steven seagal speaking crappy spanish! who doesnt love that?!

I gotta say though, I've seen The Hitcher for the first time recently, and for being praised as such a classic, I thought it was pretty damn shitty. I mean, he shoots down a chopper with a .38, out of a car window, without even looking? Come on. I was expecting some kind of psychological thriller, claustrophobic, with a man cooped up in a car with a killer, and I got some shitty third-grade action movie about some superhuman dude killing everyone and stalking the guy who picked him up. If I wanted to see The Terminator, I'd have put on The Terminator. Maybe it was because we're so spoiled in terms of films recently, and because it's an old film, but I was thoroughly disappointed.

That said, Hauer is a damn fine actor.

Well-constructed, thought out and well-founded argument there. Like I said, maybe it's because I didn't see it when it came out, or when I was still young, but to me, it's just a silly, implausible series of scenes with Rutger Hauer going through some route 66-town and killing everybody. I'd have infinitely preferred a more psychological, claustrophobical film (as I first expected when I bought the DVD).

Wasn't going for a well thought out argument. I just felt like going for the cut-throat "my opinion is better than yours" approach out of boredom and laziness, because we both agree that neither of us will change the other's opinion. :tickled:
