Cynic, Devin, BTBAM, and Scale The Summit '10 Tour

I thought that Dev/BTBAM were co headlining, got to the show last night and Dev was opening.. fuckin drag as that was really the only reason I got ticks. Cynic sounded good, haven't kept up with them through the years. Dev's set was just way to short.. he said 30min but it seemed like 15. They did sound good and he seemed to be clicking with the crowd. The setlist last night was

Supercrush
Disruptr
truth

Ziltoid

those r the ones I remember. I coulda got away with bringin my camcorder in there too, didn't know and didn't want to go back to the car for it specially since by the time I got in he was playin already.

Pretty stupid eh? He should be headlining. Oh well, I bought the tickets to see DTP, I'll just stay after for the other bands. BTW check out Devin's youtube account, he just posted some funny ass tour bus videos the other day.

4 more days til I get to see this show:headbang:

Definitely...

Yea that drive through the mtns looked like fun.. I always hated that whenever I hit the road.. the last band I was in ran into a blizzard in May going down through southern Colorado. Makes your ass pucker for sure.

some Devin spam. Off the recent tour. Fairly good sound for it being an audience recording!

Went last night. Missed Scale the Summit, argh! DTP and Cynic were both pretty fucking amazing. Awesome sound and great performances. Cynic only played one song off of "Focus." We didn't stay for BTBAM.

Really? When I saw them they played Veil Of Maya, and Celestial Voyage. Hm, I guess you're right.

And WOW, those youtube videos sound great. My venue didn't even sound like that, the samples were too high, there was clipping everywhere, it was just a very painful listen.

I really wanted to hear "I'm But a Wave To", but the few songs they played from Focus were still good - they played those two here, and at least one more from Focus.

I saw the final show of this tour last night in Charlotte, NC (BTBAM's hometown), and it was fucking amazing. Here's a play by play, if you will.

Scale the Summit: I was really impressed by these guys. I had heard a bit of their music, and had liked it, but they really impressed me live. The music was pretty chill (not that heavy) but they played very well and had decent interaction with the crowd. During their second to last song a pit actually broke out, and their lead guitarist said it was the first one of the tour! I was pretty happy to be a part of that :kickass:

DTP: Devy was fucking amazing. Even though he only played 5 songs, his live mix was killer, he was absolutely hilarious, and he had great interaction with the crowd. At one point, he kissed a bouncer on the head after talking about everyone loving each other, hahahahaha. He also had the entire crowd do a huge group hug. It was great.

Cynic: I'm a bit torn about Cynic. They played extremely well (goddamn their drummer is good), and had a good live mix, but to be honest they were slightly boring to watch. Very little, if any, crowd interaction at all. I don't know, I still love Cynic, and from a musician's perspective they were a lot of fun to watch, I just wish they talked to the crowd a bit more. It also could be that any band is boring to watch after Devin :loco: The yoga was pretty awesome though.

BTBAM: I'm not a huge fan of them, to be honest, and I really don't like their albums that much. That being said, I've seen them twice live now, and they put on a fucking kick ass show. They're all fantastic musicians, and have a really good stage presence. I'm not gunna lie, I was moshing and head banging the whole time.

The show was at a venue called "The Fillmore" which is relatively new. It's hands down the nicest place I've EVER been for a show. Check out these pictures: http://ncmusicfactory.com/tour/play/fillmore/

Overall it was an excellent show, and my neck hurts like a motherfucker from headbanging all night. I call it a great success :)
