'Damnation': A mellow version of 'Still Life'?

Listening to 'Damnation', I realized (subjectively, that is), that the songs in structure and form most resemble the music on 'Still Life', particularly the first half of the album feels this way. Of course, there are radical differences, but imagine a heavy version of the songs on 'Damnation', and I think you'll come pretty close to 'Still Life'. A lot of the chords and combinations there of are similar on these albums.

I don't remember which song but there's a guitar melody in one song on Damnation which is exactly the same as a guitar melody in Godhead's Lament.

i don't really hear any still life sounds
possibly the verses of "death whispered a lullaby"
but that's a stretch to me

Well, I still think it is so. I wonder why threads such as this, which try to discuss various aspects of Opeth's music, fail to get many replies while "I bought 'Damnation'!!!!" receives many?

well i guess we agree on the fact its still undoubtely opeth that is playing on damnation. you can hear in the sructure of songs, riffs, and so on
