i think i have made a thread about this before...anyway, in my opinion, it is the most beautiful clean tone i have ever heard on any album...ever.

it is very dark, and rich, with nice harmonics. it has that those natural overtones that pulsate like an extremely warm overdrive. its also really sqongy....it has that class A vox sponginess.

what really gets me though, is how the notes seem to have a warm and organic swell to them. this is especially evident on "in my time of need." it is so fucking nice.

has anyone ever been able to get a sound like this out of your setup? i have the VC-30, but i can't quite get it...it sounds nice, but damn...that tone just melts me.

what do you guys think?

there's this tiny little solo on "Hope Leaves" at 1:05 to 1:16 which i think is absolutely PERFECT tone

>> i agree here. i love that piece to. but the clean tone on shine on you crazy diamond slays the damnation tone. but then again they are not really comparable

I think I should start strangling people who create threads about how to emulate Opeth's sound.... THERE'S TOO FUCKING MANY THREADS LIKE THIS!!!!! ONE FUCKING THREAD IS ALL YOU FUCKING NEED!!!!
>.<
Now I realize why people hate this forum so much.

Gilmours lead tone is probably my favorite from like any band

like totally!! just kidding... but gilmour's tone is bad ass. i concur that shine on has one of the best guitar tones ever.

hmm.. ive seen one of gilmours videos but i dont think ive ever heard him through his laney... what album or whatever would you guys recommend of his playing through his laney?

The Damnation-sound is indeed beautiful, but I have yet to find a sound more beautiful than the slow solos on Lady Fantasy by Camel.
