DAMNATION II IN THE FUTURE SOMETIME ?????????

I'd rather have a new concept album. I think MAYH and Still life are their two best albums so, definitely want a third.

Damnation is cool and all but my two issues are:

-The dynamics between heavy and light weren't there (not saying they're essential, but Opeth uses them so well)
-The album seemed very 'electronic' to me. There weren't enough acoustic guitars (to my liking) used and I would have preferred something along the lines of Morningrise mellow sections.

Either way, it comes down to the fact that Opeth progress. And I also would NOT like an all heavy album either.

Who wants you to piss off with that freakin annoying capslock!
/me raises hand..

To answer the question, no.. I want something else.. Like a hiphop album, because Mike's never done that.. :erk:

i vote no for a 2nd damnation, but i kinda would like another album like deliverance or morningrise with the new lineup. 5 or 6 really long, really heavy songs and only one mellow song and (maybe) a short instrumental. haha. i want to hear more of axe's blastbeats and fredrik's shredding along with the opeth sound, you know, i'm really digging the real heavy shit on watershed and i want to hear more like that.

I'd like to hear them do another mellow album, but with more variation than Damnation had. More material like Coil, the fantastic acoustic section at the end of Burden, include other instruments like the drums used in Atonement, and throw in some of that brilliant, atmospheric acoustic guitar they used to have on albums like Still Life.

Damnation was a brilliant album (my favorite Opeth album in fact) however it could definitely have used a bit more variation and experimenting to make it more interesting.

Can't see it happening. It's special because it's unique. If they made a Part II, it would diminish the effect of the original, IMHO.

Definitely, that was exactly what I was thinking.
It's kind of like having another series finale on a TV show when all the loose ends have already been tied up. It's redundant and makes the original less special. To be to the point, no, a second Damnation wouldn't be the same (in a bad way).
