DAMNATION II IN THE FUTURE SOMETIME ?????????

Opeth aren't in a desperate need for money as Watershed has sold decently, therefore there's no need for an album that would shurely make money. So no Damnation mark II.

Are you hinting towards Damnation being more successful than other Opeth albums, cause I don't think that's true at all.

We have to remember that Opeth's gotten a lot of publicity because of Roadrunner, therefore "a sequel to Opeth's 2003 masterpiece Damnation" would be marketed a lot more than the first one. There's a lot more potential listeners to Damnation-esque Opeth than the usual one.

You have a point.

I'd rather have a new concept album. I think MAYH and Still life are their two best albums so, definitely want a third.

Same here. I'd love to see another concept album from Opeth. It's hard to beat albums like Still Life and MAYH.

Unless you are TOP_OPTH_FAN, do not speak in all capitals.

qouted for truth.

On topic: I'd love to see, like anarchy aka the emo said, another deliverance album. I've always felt that deliverance was opeth's heaviest album and that it almost contains no soft parts at all (although it obviously does of course!). But I've always felt the heavy parts defines the album.

imagine an opeth album where all the mellow parts are acoustic and heavy parts are well, just like any other opeth heavy part (not all heavy parts are distortion guitars remember, closure's ending perfect example) but leave the mellow soft part for acoustic only. It would be sort of black and white feeling on that the black (or white) i.e the heavy parts would be progressive and not following a line whereas all the mellow parts would be acoustic. A nice contrast I think but maybe a whole album built up around this would be monotenous...

Damnation is good, what ever you say, don't act as "....polar bears"(Martin Lopez, documentary from "lamentations"): "..we need only heavy..":)
There is no need of second one, either BWP,Orchid and so on, because I think the same may go to that Pink Floyd should have been create second "Wall", Metallica-"Black Album",DT-"Projector" and so on
It's my opinion:Saint:

I WOULD AGREE NOT TO CALL IT DAMNATION II. BASICALLY ANOTHER SOFT ALBUM. HOW ABOUT AN ACOUSTIC UNPLUGGED ALBUM? AS LONG AS IT IS NOT GERMAN POWER METAL THEN ITS ALL GOOD. NON-RELATED: WHAT YOU GUYS THINK ABOUT IKEA USING OPETH MUSIC IN THEIR TV COMMERCIALS?

YES, for the last lines of the last post!

Well but I'd love something like Ghost reveries again, possibly with more of these "doom metal" parts.

Also it'd be nice to have some higher tempo parts. (some, not too much.)

I prefer today's more technical and progressive Opeth to that of the Damnation-era. Most of the songs on Damnation are a bit too accessible, they don't challenge you as a listener.
