Starkweather is one of my favorite bands but I don't know if I'd call them metalcore.

Yeah, they mix it up quite a bit, and have some pretty subdued passages. I think the contrasts are great. But it is a far cry from a lot of the metalcore and deathcore of these days. Still, a brilliant release IMO.
