David Bendeth Drums for Steven Slate

Daaaaaaaaaamn I love these drums. That's all. The demos sound freaking awesome to me.

Cheers,
Steven

I'm gonna pass on this one. I was actually super stoked for this and have been waiting months for it. Those clips just don't do it for me.

This. Not digging it at all. The ring on the snare in number 2 is cool but I can realistically get the same thing out of a Nashville snare from Jacob or the Riot sample that's been floating around.

Loved the fact he's not using crazy mics. D112 on kick, sm57's on tom, mxl v67 on hihat. rules. i made a subkick out of an old tannoy speaker a while back but the idea of setting up a monitor is pretty cool.

Thanks! Ironically, most of my samples are geared to sound just like Bendeth's stuff. He's my favorite mixer these days.

Jeff, have you heard the Dark New Day record that he did? That's by far my favorite production he's done....or ever. That kick...fucking hell.

I did and I love it - another a Bendeth/Korneff combo, pretty sure that one was tracked way before it was released!

Jeff, I think you were the guy that held back the Asking Alexandria drums no? You were a part of that "messy" situation. i guess no one ever got to hear your great drums either. Are they?

David we had lengthy conversations on FB, you know that's not the case. I didn't 'hold back' anything. Joey sent you MIDI drums a year after I worked on the record. After the drama started between you two you approached me asking whether or not real drums were recorded - I actually sent you the original tracks but it was after the record had been mixed and too late to drop them into the session. Surely you still have the chat logs that say that? I know I do.

Besides, it was editing work on a pretty straightforward album played by a good drummer - hardly "[my] great drums." Are they?

Let's all be honest - the Riot drums work pretty specifically for Riot and only Riot. They sound absofuckinglutely incredible but it's very context dependent. They wouldn't sound bad with another mix/band, but they wouldn't sound 'right.'
