I totally understand MI's frustration. After all, there was an obvious jab directed to her in this thread. Very lame. It's getting really boring and predictable !

I never posted this with a JAB in mind.........you think I did, and it was obvious, well your wrong, I told a story of a night out to see Opeth, I wished MI was with me, she knows that, in fact she was invited to be my guest, & she was in the Bay Area, but under the circumstances she could not attend, for a important reason........that I know & care not to discuss, but this thread was in no way meant to JAB at her.............nor is it lame, boring, or predictable.........but your JAB at me is, and I take that personally....It's a story that really happened, and its how I felt......And I did think of her at the show(as I posted), & wanted to be there with her, cause I care alot about her, & KNOW why she's bummed!

Now do you understand my frustration...........I doubt it!

...... I just have one question? Why the hell would you go to an Opeth show in the first place? You've made it more than clear that you think they suck...so what was the point?.........

You know, that's exactly what I was asking myself!

1. If you read the entire story, then you would realize that Lorenzo is an OLD friend of mine, I've known him 16 times longer than you(at least)......he worked for Testament back in the day, I rarely get a chance to see him, except when he comes on tour, the last time, was last summer, when he worked for DIO, he put me on the guest list for 3 shows for the Scorpions/Dio tour, and treated me like a king, took me to Ronnie Dio's dressing room & introduced me, and I really appeciated all that he's done for me(not just that time, but always).....So when he called me and personally invited me, I wanted to go and see him........I would not care if he worked for Kids On The New Block........I would still go and see him.......!

2. I did not plan(until he called).........nor pay to see Opeth......I was his guest, and my work days got switched so I could attend, and me & my cohorts, wanted a Saturday night out, dinner, beers, and having fun, Opeth just happened to be who Lorenzo is working with, and I have wanted to see them live..........someday, to give them a chance.......I see alot of bands, I've worked since 1982 in the Music buisness, and I am always open to new experiences..........

3. I've seen Kool & The Gang, Prince, Madonna, The Clash, Dapece Mode, Waylon Jennings, Lizza Menelli, Creed, Gloria Estephan, Jackson 5, Poison, Dead Can Dance, and a Zillion other bands(that are not my favorites)....but I had the oppurtunity to see them, and did so...........Music is my life!

4. That Is The Point!

PS......I would expect TL to understand my posistion better.... but she could of been there also, but decided NOT to go!

PSS.....The Tour Manager for Moonspell......is a good friend of Rob Lewis & Stevie D.......thats another reason we all went........

Well, I agree w/ Pyrus and DE that they are good musicians ( I actually think Black Water Park is pretty musical) , but they do lack "balls".

I was kinda shocked though that DE would attend an Opeth-ized event.

Comparing Exodus TOTD to Opeth is like comparing Korn to Testament.

I just tell the story the way it happened, I never compared Opeth to Exodus, when we all got in the car, I asked everyone what they wanted to hear......?
It was a choice that all of us made as a unit, I always ask my passengers what they want to listen to(not just play what I want), I have about 15 CD's in the car, I brought Opeth CD(Still Life)......to actually play, but the other 3 all agreed that Exodus was what they wanted to hear, and I was cool with that.......I played The Moor after dinner, on the way to The Fillmore, to try and actually enjoy the show more, and prepare myself, and familuarize us. Opeth fans really are excited about them playing that song, its so hard for them to do live, and its Epic, and never before done on tour, so I brought it & we did hear it.............Bottom line:

When we voted what we wanted to play first.......we all wanted to hear Tempo Of The Damned...........and played almost the whole album!

HL if you were with us what would you choose?

I'll say this.......their were at least 9 or 10 different people who posted that they enjoyed my story(so far).......Thank you guys very much......MI & TL are the only 2 negative things said.........they are entitled to their opinions.......But I rest my case, I think most people want me to tell the story the way it was....The honest truth, from my eyes.........And I always give that.......I refuse to give less......The truth may be Brutal.......But it is always Honest!

AND...I've said it a million times. Opeth isn't about pure aggression, they never have been and never will be. Some of Mikael's main influences are obscure '70's prog bands. They are progressive, melodic and, different. They aren't thrash and they aren't trying to be aggressive...there's a LOT more to it than that. There's not another band out there that is doing what they are, and I admire and appreciate that. I really don't see what the big deal is and why we have to go over and over this. I like them...so what?

i love Opeth too. and i see them as a unique and original band, I really don’t care if so many people don’t like them…

I know that a lot of people, (and im not saying you guys) don’t like Opeth because they “changed” musically, and they don’t sound like “a metal band anymore..” and in my opinion, their evolution in music is excellent.
I like that change they did, and I love to see how they developed.
maybe if people wont compare Opeth to “metal” or any other music style, they would be able to enjoy their music more?

I love my Opeth CDs and I love listen to them, regardless.


However,
one thing about Opeth I do not like…
live shows…. :/
they bore me… I cant explain it… maybe they do “lack balls” on stage,
and maybe- they should start performing on seated clubs…. heh, no

Long story short yeah. Because of that guy. He was her sancho.
She never told me, I figured it out. She made a hint once, and then
from there my masterful powers of observation and Psychological
trickery (2 stones from the Jedi Mind Trick) helped me figure it out and
from there we walked. The end of the story is 3 months later she called
and want to get back together but I said no. Tearjerker I know.

I´ve been writing on a lot of other music boards (actually no band boards but music instruments boards etc.) and many of the people there just have the intention to piss off each other .....

and smuggle myself in one of the road cases Testament is taking with
them when they play across the pond this summer, so I can save money
on airfair and spend more money drinking beer, beer mit cola and Apfel.

over in the UK too but until a few things get settled here in Boston,
