Because they're not straight up thrash. Theres a bit more to it.

What? You can make that argument for any thrash band that does an proggy-instrumental section. It doesn't change the fact that 95% of their material is just thrash. Thrash rythmns, thrash melodies, thrash vocals.

There's no death elements, besides an odd growl from time to time.

Forgot to ask when this thread first appeared, but would you guys consider Sepultura's earlier stuff as Death Thrash. Morbid Visions is prettty much one of the first Death Metal albums, and Schizophrenia and Beneath The Remains have a fair bit of death in 'em.

Maybe.... I need to hear more Sepultura than just Arise and Beneath the Remains

"Agent Orange" by Sodom is pretty death-ly. It scared me at first

Yeah actually, up until Chaos A.D Sepultura were death-thrash. Arise leaned a little more towards straight forward thrash, but it was still death-thrash at heart. Fucking amazing band.

It's strange you should mention that actually I was listening to Sepultura the other day and thinking the same thing.

I got me some japanese Death Thrash

Birth of a New Rage demo is amazing.
