I know most generally like the Circumspice album, but the last 7 songs on that album are PURE CLASS.

That's like 35 minutes of some of the most supreme atmosphere / innovative songwriting I've heard in BM, no shit.

"Carnal Malefactor", with the whole monk chant thing going on, and straight into blasting riffs is exceptional.

Cannot wait for Kenose to show up. (I bought it blind, here's hoping).

EDIT: I know, I know, I'm late to the DO party....but it only really just clicked with me today.

I think you mean the entire 13 songs and 77 or so minutes are PURE CLASS.

Dont expect SMRC over again with Kenose. It is almost it's equal in my opinion though.

Carnal Malefactor is a top song indeed, I also love first prayer sets up the album perfectly i reckon.

I'll be honest -- 77 minutes is too much for me. I need to break things up. So today, I kicked off with Third Prayer and let it play through. For some reason, this last half of the album struck a chord with me in the gay way.

I'm with GayK here, I often start listening from the ninth track onward, just to get the ultimate kick without the hard steeple-chase work of sitting through the whole album. It would have been the best EP ever.

sigh... yet another album ill have to purchase. you guys are going to make me poor. why are you fuckers buying so many albums all the damn time? do you have jobs? i mean, where you actually do work? im serious.

The Power of Christ Compells You, Circumsize is the perfect example of why I don't buy black metal albums anymore. The album rules it FUCKING RULES, and I've listened to it exactly once.

Though I adore that record I agree with you to some extent; just listening to it in a row, cd style, easily becomes too much. But that problem is actually solved if you listen to the vinyl version (or in lack of it, paus correspondingly hehe); then you get nice little breaks during the flipping-of-the-wax before the second and third prayers, which I think makes it a lot more enjoyable.

The only negative thing I have to say about SMRC is that the singer unfortunately can't handle english. Try following the lyrics while listening and you'll see that he arbitrarily skips words (perhaps when he doesn't recognize them) and has some really horrible pronounceiation a bit too often.

Let me guess, you still haven't even heard BAN's first two albums?
i have (well ultima thulée and one or two songs off the other one,) and they don't suck but i don't see why there should be so much hubbub about them either

"Memoria Vetusta" at least should be experience as a whole. It's a concept album where the concept actually leaves its print, you see.

[EDIT] I wouldn't go apeshit about it at the best of times either, but it's a really solid and lasting album, actually worth owning.

DsO - Inquisitors of Satan is a traditional black metal album that keeps my interest better than most of them. Good shit!

Absolutely, sometimes I even feel somewhat certain that Desecration Master is one of the best black metal songs ever written. That main riff is beyond spectactular, the speed breaks are ingenious, the drumming stunning and the production, let's see... uhm, awesome? (oh, and not to mention the vocals)

I'd yousendit if I had the possibility, but the track seems to me missing in my parents nonexistent mp3 folder :|
