Deathspell Omega: Third Prayer thru' to Malign Paradigm

Zyclus (which probably means "cycle" or something) is a 4-track concept album about the 4 seasons (correct me if i'm wrong here). I've heard it, it was good. Also heard a couple of other albums. I hear their name in the same sentence as Secrets of the Moon a lot, any relation?

Not quite about the four seasons. The actual concept is about the four main timespans of the day (Der Morgen-->The Morning, etc...), which is to be extended to the actual cycle of life or everything that grows and dies for the sake of a new beginning. At least Whyrrhd explains this this way, roughly.

They don't have any members in common with Secrets of the Moon, but they have shared a split EP and some stages throughout the years. they are also two of Germany's most challenging BM bands these days.

Both BAN and DSO aren't overhyped, imo. And god damnit J, have you checked out BAN's first two albums yet?

no. i've only heard Power that Transforms Gawd, and since most say it's their best, i naturally have zero yearning to hear the others. i mean damn, they must REEEEEALY suck

Best current black metal band IMO= Belenos.

i may buy deathspell omega, but it seems they have zero epicness to them, so that's a minus.

It depends on what your perception of epic is. If you only want it in a viking bouncy way, that ain't gonna happen, but DsO is plenty epic in a cryptic sort of way. When the album begins with First Prayer, the atmosphere is so thick you could cut it with a knife. I dunno, to me it's epic, but not in the traditional sense.

Deathspell Omega is the greatest black metal band on the planet though and I've said it a million times. SMR,C is probably also the best black metal album EVER recorded, but that's just my humble opinion.:p

Oh man you have no idea. I'm taking pity right now so I'll upload two songs off "Memoria Vetusta". Gimme ten minutes.

Not jollyfolk. More in line with what Belenos or older Graveland does and feels. If this is just the grim kinda stuff, I've got plenty and a lot of the classics.
