Fitting with our recent discussion about the usefulness of metal magazines...

1. Carcass - Necroticism

2. Morbid Angel - Altars of Madness

3. At the Gates - Slaughter of the Soul

4. Obituary - Cause of Death

5. Entombed - Left Hand Path

6. Napalm Death - Harmony Corruption

7. Carcass - Heartwork

8. Cryptopsy - None So Vile

9. Bolt Thrower - Realm of Chaos

10. Cannibal Corpse - The Bleeding

11. Death - Scream Bloody Gore

12. Incantation - Onward to Golgotha

13. Morbid Angel - Covenant

14. Death - Human

15. Carcass - Symphonies of Sickness

16. Nile - In Their Darkened Shrines

17. Suffocation - Pierced From Within

18. Dismember - Like an Everflowing Stream

19. Atheist - Unquestionable Presence

20 Autopsy - Mental Funeral

Fire away. From my perspective--most of the time these lists suck ass. There's no way MY list would look just like this, but overall this is halfway decent for a list in a magazine.

Um where is Demilich?

Nile, Napalm Death and Cannibal Corpse shouldn't be on that list.

Slaughter of the Soul should be switched with The Red In The Sky Is Ours.

that demilich album is up there with most overrated album in metal. seriously.

at least they got #1 right. would like to see The Rack somewhere on there....

lol I was just posting to say they didn't put Dismember and I saw it.. at #18 though.. wtf..

The only blast-beat of "Dismembered" is so powerful that it ridicules the 100000 bpm 100% blast Death bands.

None so Vile? Meh.

hmm ... heavily leaning to the old school this list.

ND- Harmony Corruption ... fine line there, would not consider it DM really ... same with Symphonies of Sickness

Bolt Throwers - Realm Of Chaos is hardly deserving to be on that list at all, let alone in the Top 10 ...

is this a UK based mag?

I'd say that Death - Symbolic and Individual Thought Patterns are completely missing.

I'd say these aren't really Death-Metal.

Well.. ITP might be.

Decibel is an American mag. Like Nate recently said, it started off pretty well, but has decended into Hit Parader territory. They still cover lots of heavy stuff, but the bands that get the most attention are typically already big names, and there is WAY too much attention to metalcore.
And at one time, Jeff Walker wrote a column for the magazine, so that may explain why Carcass is so heavily represented. Two entries-maybe. Three is pushing it.

i'm not going to openly argue any of the choices except "slaughter of the soul", because:

1) it's their WORST GOD DAMN ALBUM
2) it's the only one of their albums that AIN'T EVEN DEATH METAL

lol, I had a similar comment, but I knew you'd be in here eventually to mention this
