Der rote Fingerhut ist eine Staude aus der Familie der Wegerichgewächse Ja ja sehr spannend, was hat das mit einer CD Rezension zu tun? Ganz einfach, was lateinisch noch irgendwie cool kompliziert rüberkommt, ist übersetzt eine immerhin nicht ganz ordinäre Pflanze. Eine Überdosis ist tödlich... Als Band versteckt sich hinter dieser landwirtschaftlichen Bezeichnung ein Duo aus Turin, welches nach eigenem Bekunden Misanthropic Electro Industrial fabriziert. Cristian Marovino und Marco Magnanelli können u.a. auf eine Split VÖ mit NO FORGIVENESS und eine immerhin 8-jährige Bandgeschichte zurückblicken. Bei einer italienischen Formation dieser Genreschublade sind die DOPE STARS INC. natürlich nicht weit und so hat Victor Love dieses Full Length Debüt dann auch sehr ordentlich produziert.
Herausgekommen sind 9 Stücke (plus ein Hidden Track), die härtere MANSON Sachen mit etwas Metal kreuzen und dabei insgesamt eine recht ordentliche Figur abgeben. Es wird nicht zu sehr auf den eingängigen Refrain geschielt, was für eine erfreuliche Langzeitwirkung sorgt. So etwa beim tempoverschleppten Coded Feed, welches sich dem leicht verstörenden Intro anschließt. Deutlich Electro-lastiger präsentiert sich Were still Stars..., auch eine Prise MINISTRY ist hier zu vernehmen. Mit Religious Mercy ist gar ein kleiner Hit gelungen, bei dem in den Strophen eine gewisse SISTERS Aura versprüht wird (siehe Lucretia My Reflection). Besonders erwähnenswert natürlich noch das leidlich gelungene Maneater Cover (im Original von NELLY FURTADO) sowie der Gastbeitrag von SANGUIS ET CINIS Celine Cecilia Angel bei Ideomatic.
So wird natürlich keinesfalls das Genre neu erfunden, doch man umschifft relativ geschickt die vielen möglichen Fettnäpfchen und abgesehen von der anscheinend unvermeidbaren Cyber Optik haben die Herren ein durchaus ordentliches Electro Metal Brett gezimmert.

DIGITALIS PURPUREA? Botaniker werden hinter diesem Begriff sofort die tödliche Pflanze vermuten, nämlich den roten Fingerhut, der in gewissen Dosen bereits katastrophale Folgen haben kann. Aber auch in der Musikwelt soll dieser lateinische Name in den kommenden Monaten als intensive Bedrohung etabliert werden, zumindest wenn man die Töne des neuen Albums "Aseptic White" dieses italienischen Elektro-Duos als Maßstab nimmt. Die beiden Protagonisten programmieren sich in bester THE KOVENANT-Manier in den härteren Bereich und sorgen mit einem MANSON-üblichen Industrial-Metal-Spektakel für die organischen Komponenten in ihrer Musik. Revolutionär? Sicher nicht, aber dennoch gut gemacht!
Die Marschrichtung ist dabei ziemlich straight und kompromisslos, dokumentiert im teils doch sehr rifflastigen Stoff der neuen Platte, außerdem aber auch im ziemlich fetten Sound, den das Duo für ihren Release gewählt hat. Die Zeichen stehen von der ersten Sekunde an auf Attacke, die Stimmung wiederum ist relativ aggressiv. Bereits in den ersten drei Nummern setzen DIGITALIS PURPUREA somit noch einmal deutliche Akzente in Sachen industriell angehauchtem Elektro-Metal und kombnieren Beats und Gitarren wirklich mit Bravour. Leider jedoch gehen den Italienern im weiteren Verlauf die Ideen aus, so dass man gerade im letzten Drittel vergeblich nach Abwechslung Ausschau hält. Stücke wie 'Crittodream' und 'Dried Up And Spoited With Black Lipstick' mögen zwar den rebellischen Grundgedanken der Scheibe weiterführen, begründen sich aber weitestgehend auf längst erprobten Schemen.
Zum Schlusss versucht man sich daher noch an zwei Cover-Songs, die jedoch nicht so recht zum übrigen Material passen wollen: Der Disco-Klassiker 'Ideomatic' (Jean-Pierre Massiera) kann zwar noch mit einer gelungenen Symbiose aus plastischer Härte und Melodik glänzen, wohingegen Nelly Furtados 'Maneater' absolut nicht zum Klangbild der Südländer passen will. Schade drum, denn durch diesen leichten Absturz hält "Aseptic White" letztendlich nicht ganz das, was die Anfänge der CD versprechen. Das Duo aus Turin beweist zwar oft genug, dass wirklich eine Menge kompositorisches Potenzial in ihm steckt. Aber das Bewusstsein, das Letzteres nicht völlig ausgeschöpft wurde, zieht sich in der zweiten Hälfte des neuen Albums wie ein roter Faden durch die Songs.

Digitalis Purpurea "Aseptic White"

Korzystając z małego zamroczenia i dnia wolnego, jest wreszcie czas, aby zsynchronizować muzycze myśli z papierem. Digitalis Purpurea trafił do moich rąk dość niedawno i szybko zadomowił się w moim odtwrazaczu mp3. Podchodziłem do płyty w kilku momentach - w drodze do i z pracy, podczas pracy, podczas zajęć w domu, podczas biegania czy wreszcie w skupieniu sam na sam z dźwiękami, które nadeszły z Turynu. Wytwórnia promuje ten materiał jako kolejny rewolucyjny industrialny metal, którego muzyczną produkcją zajął się Victor Love z Dope Stars Inc. Ta ostatnia informacja była dla mnie dość dobrą rekomendacją, może nie ze względu na faworyzowanie jego muzycznego wytworu, ale na fakt, że potrafił on wykreowac potężne i dynamiczne brzmienie, które ożywiło kompozycje Dope Stars Inc. Szczerze mówiąc spodziewałem się kopii dokonań tego zespołu. "Intro" wywarło na mnie bardzo pozytywne wrażenie swoim chłodnym i futurystycznym klimatem i już zacierałem ręce oczekując odhumanizowanego metal/industrial z odpowiednią dozą wściekłości. Nie mniej dalsze wrażenia muzyczne nie były już tak optymistyczne. Faktycznie Digitalis Purpurea wykluczyli lukrowość o jaką można posądzać Dope Stars Inc., ale odłączenie również tej humanoidalnej części spowodowało, że muzyka jest... raczej bezpłciowa. Płyta jest bardzo kwadratowa, oparta na pracy komputerów (które również odpowiadają za stronę rytmiczną

Kolejnym całkiem rzetelnym kawałkiem jest "Not", gdzie nienaganna rytmika (wreszcie oparta na gitarze) oraz udana forma refrenu, zbliżają ich do skojarzeń z pracami Mansona. Głównie chodzi mi tutaj o sferę wokalną, gdzie jest on podobnie traktowany przez efekty, aczkolwiek Pi Greco wykorzystuje mniej śpiewnie swoje struny głosowe. Można też rzec, że płyta rozkręca się w miarę słuchania, dalsze utwory jak "Crittodream" czy "Ideomatic" (z głosem Celine Cecillii, która nadaje bardzo komputerowy chakater kompozycji, jednej z lepszych moim zdaniem na płycie) posiadają również całkiem dobrego kopa, odnosząc się również do tradycji chociażby Ministry. Problemem grupy jest nikły poziom przebojowości. Aranżacje i struktury nie są złe, ale nie zdobywają serca (przynajmniej mojego tak łatwo) i trudno mi uwierzyć, że zdobędą sale klubowe lub koncertowe. Trzeba wziąć jeszcze pod uwagę, że jest to debiut płytowy grupy i na pewno jeszcze wiele dobrych momentów przed nimi. In plus pracują przede wszystkim dobre brzmienie, solidna podstawa techniczna, atrakcyjna szata graficzna oraz bardzo pozytywnie zaaranżowany i wykonany cover "Meneater" (Nelly Furtado). Czy to wystarczająco aby postarać się pozyskać ten album, to już wasza decyzja. Sprawdzić ich na pewno warto, tym bardziej, że już zapowiadany jest kolejny krążek, choć "Aseptic White" oficjalnie ukaże się dopiero 2 października.

Hailing from Turin, Digitalis Purpurea has already released some material, but joining the Aural Music group they here launch an album that will for sure catch much more attention. Digitalis Purpurea is the botanic name of the Purple Foxglove, a plant symbol of temptation and at the same time, being very destructive. It perfectly symbolizes the music of this Italian duo. The crossover style is simply annihilating for its power and the mix of overwhelming, loud guitars and electro arrangements. You can feel some influence from M. Manson hanging over a few songs and even in the way of singing (cf. Religious Mercy). In the harder and pure crossover style the Were All Stars On Our Snuff Suicide-song is a real great piece of music while a more gothic element emerges from the song Not (Cut-Ups From A Criminal Profiling). The right mix of heavy guitar assaults and electronic arrangements appears on the Crittodream-cut. As a kind of bonus we also get some cover songs, starting with the excellent Ideomatic originally performed by Rockets and here featuring Sanguis Et Cinis singer Cecilia Angel as guest vocalist. This version is a real cool interpretation of the original one. Another cool and funny track is Maneater, originally performed by Nelly Furtado. Digitalis Purpurea is a band, which seems to have the potential to get in search of an international recognition and success!

I torinesi Digitalis Purpurea arrivano al debut album dopo aver disseminato la loro carriera, che parte agli albori del 2000, con una serie di split-cd e demos.
Prendono il nome da una pianta simbolo della tentazione, che ha scopi medicinali ma che allo stesso tempo se usata eccessivamente può portare ad unoverdose letale. Questa duplice natura della pianta, queste due facce della stesa medaglia, bene si adattano alla musica dei Digitalis Purpurea.
Parliamo di Ebm/Industrial asettico, freddo, a tratti glaciale, ma allo stesso tempo capace di mostrare, sotto la sovrastruttura di metallo e silicio, un lato inesorabilmente umano.
Dopo lintro, in cui troviamo un sample estratto dal filmPi greco Il teorema del delirio, quasi un manifesto della weltanshauung del duo, ci ho messo veramente pochissimi secondi dallinizio di Coded Feel per iniziare a masturbarmi, avendo subito riconosciuto i venefici e malsani germi dei Marilyn Manson di Antichrist Superstar.
Lombra del reverendo Manson aleggia lungo tutte le dieci tracce (nove più hidden track) di questo album, non solo a livello vocale (praticamente identica è la voce del singer Pi Greco), ma i riferimenti alle cose migliori della band americana si sprecano, basti citare Were All Stars In Our Snuff Suicide che fa il verso al mansoniano inno Were all stars in the dope show tratto da The Dope Show.
Certo ci sono tante altre influenze, perché a turno a possibile sentire N.I.N., Kovenant, persino i concittadini Thee Maldoror Kollective.
Ogni influenza è commista alle altre per creare un sound pesante, che poco concede alla melodia, molto puntando su beat sincopati, ostici, dove loscurità avvolge i riffs taglienti dellaltro componente C-Power. Basta ascoltare Crittodream per rendersene conto.
Le canzoni sono tutte di ottimo livello, Religious Mercy è un virus che si piazza nel cervello e lo divora da dentro, le chitarre non affogano del magma siliceo digitale ma rilasciano affilatissime shockwave che segnano le canzoni come cicatrici, è il caso di Not.
Dried Up And Spotted With Black Lipstick apre cattivissima, infligge colpi durissimi, è rabbia cristallizzata, raffinata, puro odio binario. Manson sarebbe fiero di aver fatto di tali proseliti.
Infine cè anche il tempo per un paio di collaborazioni con voci femminili, come quella di tale Celine Cecilia Angel, in Ideomatic, canzone che ammicca a certo cyberglampunk, come potrebbero esserlo i Genitortures o i dimenticati Vampire Love Dolls, oppure nella conclusiva Maneater, cover di Nelly Furtado, che, anche grazie allapporto di Tying Tiffany, ha una resa clamorosa per originalità e capacità della band di averla saputa scarnificare per rivestirla di algida elettronica e chitarre maligne.
Cè ancora spazio per una traccia nascosta, in genere trascurabili sulla quasi totalità dei dischi odierni, ma qui funzionale al contesto, anzi quasi una della track migliori.
Rotten Meal è inquietante, ossessiva, angosciante, un nero monolite uscito dai peggiori incubi di mister Trent Reznor sotto acido.
Il giudizio finale su questo disco è ovviamente più che positivo. Si potrà sicuramente dire che i Digitalis Purpurea sono pesantemente influenzati dagli artisti sopracitati (ok, a volte si sfiora il plagio), ma il risultato finale, almeno a me, ha fatto godere, e non poco.
Al posto vostro mi fregherei di tutte queste pippe mentali, e inizierei a farmele veramente, quelle fisiche, su questo Aseptic White.

Prendono il nome da una pianta simbolo della tentazione, che ha scopi medicinali ma che allo stesso tempo se usata eccessivamente può portare ad unoverdose letale. Questa duplice natura della pianta, queste due facce della stesa medaglia, bene si adattano alla musica dei Digitalis Purpurea.
Parliamo di Ebm/Industrial asettico, freddo, a tratti glaciale, ma allo stesso tempo capace di mostrare, sotto la sovrastruttura di metallo e silicio, un lato inesorabilmente umano.
Dopo lintro, in cui troviamo un sample estratto dal filmPi greco Il teorema del delirio, quasi un manifesto della weltanshauung del duo, ci ho messo veramente pochissimi secondi dallinizio di Coded Feel per iniziare a masturbarmi, avendo subito riconosciuto i venefici e malsani germi dei Marilyn Manson di Antichrist Superstar.
Lombra del reverendo Manson aleggia lungo tutte le dieci tracce (nove più hidden track) di questo album, non solo a livello vocale (praticamente identica è la voce del singer Pi Greco), ma i riferimenti alle cose migliori della band americana si sprecano, basti citare Were All Stars In Our Snuff Suicide che fa il verso al mansoniano inno Were all stars in the dope show tratto da The Dope Show.
Certo ci sono tante altre influenze, perché a turno a possibile sentire N.I.N., Kovenant, persino i concittadini Thee Maldoror Kollective.
Ogni influenza è commista alle altre per creare un sound pesante, che poco concede alla melodia, molto puntando su beat sincopati, ostici, dove loscurità avvolge i riffs taglienti dellaltro componente C-Power. Basta ascoltare Crittodream per rendersene conto.
Le canzoni sono tutte di ottimo livello, Religious Mercy è un virus che si piazza nel cervello e lo divora da dentro, le chitarre non affogano del magma siliceo digitale ma rilasciano affilatissime shockwave che segnano le canzoni come cicatrici, è il caso di Not.
Dried Up And Spotted With Black Lipstick apre cattivissima, infligge colpi durissimi, è rabbia cristallizzata, raffinata, puro odio binario. Manson sarebbe fiero di aver fatto di tali proseliti.
Infine cè anche il tempo per un paio di collaborazioni con voci femminili, come quella di tale Celine Cecilia Angel, in Ideomatic, canzone che ammicca a certo cyberglampunk, come potrebbero esserlo i Genitortures o i dimenticati Vampire Love Dolls, oppure nella conclusiva Maneater, cover di Nelly Furtado, che, anche grazie allapporto di Tying Tiffany, ha una resa clamorosa per originalità e capacità della band di averla saputa scarnificare per rivestirla di algida elettronica e chitarre maligne.
Cè ancora spazio per una traccia nascosta, in genere trascurabili sulla quasi totalità dei dischi odierni, ma qui funzionale al contesto, anzi quasi una della track migliori.
Rotten Meal è inquietante, ossessiva, angosciante, un nero monolite uscito dai peggiori incubi di mister Trent Reznor sotto acido.
Il giudizio finale su questo disco è ovviamente più che positivo. Si potrà sicuramente dire che i Digitalis Purpurea sono pesantemente influenzati dagli artisti sopracitati (ok, a volte si sfiora il plagio), ma il risultato finale, almeno a me, ha fatto godere, e non poco.
Al posto vostro mi fregherei di tutte queste pippe mentali, e inizierei a farmele veramente, quelle fisiche, su questo Aseptic White.

Their newest record Aseptic White stands out because of the big and heavy sing along choruses supported by heavily distorted guitars and thick layers of sampling. The verses and bridges are a little more minimalistic in sound and actually could have done with a bit more body. Something which is a little bit annoying is the fact that there are a couple of synth patterns and samples that are too obviously stored under the favourites of Pi Greco (first composer). Even more diversity in the different sounds would have improved the record greatly. This also applies to the vocals: it sometimes seems as if Pi tries to imitate the dirty sneers of his American role model a little bit too closely. Nevertheless the six self-composed tracks on this album should all serve as perfect floor fillers for just about every alternative club and the surprising cover of Nelly Furtados Maneater might even be able to achieve the same in many a mainstream disco.

Il duo offre nove tracce oscure e glaciali, un connubio tra blast beats pesanti e dallincidere pachidermico e un metal molto freddo ed essenziale, figlio dello stile del chitarrista C-Power, ingegnere delle sei corde schietto ed essenziale.
Dopo lintroduzione tratta dal film Pi Greco: Il Teorema Del Delirio, il two-piece mette subito in luce le sue intenzioni con Coded Feed, un pezzo potente e dal feeling mansoniano. Il Marilyn Manson più ricercato e reznoriano emerge non solo nelle vocals di Pi Greco ma anche nel mood stesso dei brani, spesso disturbante ma con un occhio per i passaggi deffetto. E il caso di Religious Mercy e Ideomatic (con la partecipazione di Celine Cecilia Angel degli australiani Sanguis Et Cinis), due episodi orecchiabili eppure maligni al punto giusto, con la voce filtrata di Pi Greco che ci riporta sempre in quel desolato panorama sintetico dipinto dai Digitalis Purpurea.
Nel resto dellalbum, mantenendo intatta una freddezza di fondo, i nostri non disdegnano una maggiore sobrietà e abbracciano un sound più compatto e nevrotico. Come prevedibile la proposta musicale dei nostri rientra a pieno titolo nel filone industrial electro-metal, da intendersi tuttavia nell'accezione più marziale del termine: Deathstars, Marylin Manson e The Kovenant sono infatti i primi nomi che vengono in mente durante l'ascolto di tracce come "Coded Feel", "We're All Stars On Our Snuff Suicide" o "Religious Mercy", canzoni in cui elettronica e ritmiche cadenzate si fondono in un connubio non particolarmente originale ma di sicuro gradimento per i fan delle band sopracitate. Non abbiano comunque a temere i fan dell'EBM e dell'industrial più danzereccio: nella seconda metà della tracklist l'aumento dei BPM fa registrare i valori soglia di quel sofisticato strumento di rilevazione meglio noto come "tamarrometro", sancendo così il successo di autentici dancefloor anthem quali "Not (Cut-ups from a Criminal Profiling)" e "Crittodream". Imperdibile poi da questo punto di vista la corposa sezione bonus, in cui trovano posto le riuscitissime cover "Ideomatic" dei Rockets e "Maneater" di Nelly Furtado, due smash hits ulteriormente impreziosite dalle female vocals di Celine Cecilia Angel (dei Sanguis et Cinis) e di Tying Tiffany. Purpurea, heywoodii o mariana?
Se il buon cd si sente dall'intro, "Aseptic White" sembra promettere gustose esperienze.
Album di esordio per la band electro-industrial torinese Digitalis Purpurea, "Aseptic White" ci permette di iniziare la degustazione con una base elettronica alla DustBrothers e un frammento di dialogo tratto da "PiGreco: Il Teorema Del Delirio" di Darren Aronofsky.
Il suono si fa via via meno criptico e si lascia decodificare, con ritmi orecchiabili e passaggi tipici E.B.M. in cui sono di scena una voce sensualmente corrotta, che sembra ricordare un mix tra Orgy e Marilyn Manson, synth a profusione e campionature.
Sostanzialmente nulla di innovativo e strabiliante, le influenze si sentono tutte ed è probabilmente inevitabile; l'arte in questa direzione è quella di arrangiarle assieme senza annoiare, cercando poi di scuotere il corpo, visto che si tratta di musica che sconfina nel movimento.
Tutto procede bene, le canzoni come piccoli bento, racchiudono diversi effetti e sfaccettature che le rendono mondi finiti, confezionati in particolare atmosfera. Questo elemento è reso con efficacia dal mixaggio di Victor Love che ha saputo fare un ottimo lavoro di sterilizzazione del sound, rendendo tutto chirurgicamente pulito.
Il susseguirsi è fluido fino alla traccia "Ideomatic" dove compare la voce robotica di Celin Cecilia Angel e alla successiva "Maneater", una divertente cover di Nelly Furtado che che vi canticchierà nel cervello.
Un buon lavoro, che dà aria fresca ad un ambiente che sa di chiuso, e che nelle nostre lande sembra, come tutto, in decadenza.

Die Dame auf dem Cover lässt sich's schmecken. Bei den Italienern von DIGITALIS PURPUREA (der Name wurde von einem Gedicht Giovanni Pascolis inspiriert) steht Electro auf der Speisekarte.
Die Roots liegen eindeutig in der EBM-Szene, doch das Duo Pi Greco und C-Power kombinieren dies mit reichlich Industrial-Feeling und Metal-Gitarren.
Heraus kommen dabei Songs im gemäßigten Tempo, die etwas vom Flair des moderneren MANSON-Sounds haben, sowie cluborientierte Rhythmen, die ein Stück flotter zur Sache gehen. Allerdings fehlt den meisten Stücken irgendwie der nötige Schwung, die Energie, um den Hörer mitreißen zu können. Zum Teil ist dies dem seltsam dünnen Sound geschuldet. Victor Love von den DOPE STARS hat den Instrumenten zwar das notwendige Futter verpasst, aber der Gesamteindruck ist schon ziemlich schmächtig. Das hört sich alles nach Kleinkaliber an, echter Druck kommt da kaum rüber. Gitarren und Schlagzeug, beides könnte mehr Bumms vertragen.
Die Songs geben allerdings auch nicht viel mehr her. Ein paar gute Ansätze und nette Refrains, aber echte Begeisterung sieht anders aus. Mit dem Cover von Nelly Furtados "Maneater" kann man einen kleinen Überraschungscoup landen, aber der reißt das Ruder am Ende auch nicht mehr rum. Keine schlechte Platte, aber auch nichts, was man unbedingt braucht.

I Digitalis Purpurea hanno fatto le cose in grande per Aseptic White: artwork molto curato e coerente col progetto, Victor Love dei vincenti Dope Stars Inc. alla produzione, ospiti come Celine Cecilia Angel dei coatti goth Sanguis Et Cinis (nella cover di Ideomatic dei Rockets) e Tying Tiffany, perfetta per la rilettura più divertente delloriginale - di Maneater di Nelly Furtado.
Con simili premesse, non è poi così sorprendente scoprire che Aseptic White suoni come una versione semplificata di Marilyn Manson, con un immaginario contiguo a quello di Mechanical Animals. La palese somiglianza tra la voce del Reverendo e quella del cantante dei Digitalis Purpurea, insomma, è solo la punta delliceberg. Al di là della scelta maliziosa di riprendere un pezzo pop (vecchio trucco del sig. Brian Warner, oltre che del carrozzone nu metal), tutto lalbum sembra voler piacere a ogni costo, quindi spazio a ritmiche sintetiche lineari, a suoni di chitarra vicini a Orgy, Rammstein e via dicendo, a strutture basilari fatte per entrare subito in testa. Coded Feel, Not o Crittodream hanno il tiro giusto, fanno presa e sono sufficientemente levigate e controllate per non spaventare davvero nessuno, pur facendogli credere ogni tanto di ascoltare qualcosa di trasgressivo. Nulla contro qualsiasi tipo di musica capace di intrattenere e divertire, però questo disco sembra un po troppo prêt-à-porter.

Industrial enthusiasts take note: Italys Digitalis Purpurea represent the next generation of Industrial music and in a great way! This duo consisting of guitarist C-Power and Pi Greco who handles vocals, synthesizers, beat programming and bass, possess a sound and vibe which strongly pays homage to artists such as Skinny Puppy and early 90s Nine Inch Nails while still maintaining an edge which is completely original.
Luckilly there is nothing remotely commercial about this release, this 9 track effort contains lots of noisy, distorted guitars, hypnotic vocals which often are layered in fuzzy effects and wicked soundbytes which add atmosphere and a trippy feel to the whole recording. In particular, I find Pi Grecos angst ridden, screamed out vocals to be quite impressive being that they help add a more heavy feel to the songs. Even the farty, distorted bass guitar works wonders, reminding me at times of Godflesh and early 90s Treponem Pal. My only chief complaint with Aseptic White is that certain songs tend to be a bit too repetitive, especially in the verse/chorus/verse department. Even the chord progressions tend to be too repetitive at times. I am damn certain Digitalis can improve their songwriting chops the next time around and add more variation to the guitars and structure of the songs. Lets forgive these guys for now, yes this CD is their debut so there is always that possibility that some mistakes may be noticeable in the beginning.
Best tracks include the very dark Were All Stars On Our Snuff Suicide and Crittodream. I also was very glad that lyrics were provided within the CD booklet simply because they are twisted, fucked up and very psychologically disturbing a perfect fit to the music.
If you like your industrial served cold with heavy grooves which will get the blood flowing in your veins, this CD will be right up your alley.

Industrial enthusiasts take note: Italys Digitalis Purpurea represent the next generation of Industrial music and in a great way! This duo consisting of guitarist C-Power and Pi Greco who handles vocals, synthesizers, beat programming and bass, possess a sound and vibe which strongly pays homage to artists such as Skinny Puppy and early 90s Nine Inch Nails while still maintaining an edge which is completely original.
Luckilly there is nothing remotely commercial about this release, this 9 track effort contains lots of noisy, distorted guitars, hypnotic vocals which often are layered in fuzzy effects and wicked soundbytes which add atmosphere and a trippy feel to the whole recording. In particular, I find Pi Grecos angst ridden, screamed out vocals to be quite impressive being that they help add a more heavy feel to the songs. The Italian industrial duo Digitalis Purpurea has been around since 2000 already. This year they got signed with Aural Music/Dreamcell11 to release their debut full length record entitled Aseptic White. Lets see what this industrial electro metal act has to offer.
If there is one source of inspiration written all over Aseptic White, it has to be Marilyn Manson. The catchy industrial electro beats dont necessarily imply this, but it are mainly the vocals that make me think of Marilyn Manson. Mister Pi Greco uses the same vocal lines and sounds as him, he approaches his actual sound very closely. And honestly I have to say that I sort of like his record better than the last couple of Marilyn Manson records anyway. Its more raw produced and has a more sincere sound to it.
Aseptic White proves to be a very entertaining listen for all those interested in Marilyn Manson and other danceable industrial electro metal. A funny extra is a cover version of Nelly Furtados Maneater, featuring Tying Tiffany. If these guys get a hold of better (studio) equipment and a good promotional budget this could get huge fast. Only time can tell. If youre looking for a record filled with catchy industrial beats to dance to, make sure to check out Digitalis Purpurea.

Non è difficile capire quali sono le ispirazioni che stanno dietro ad "Aseptic White", i Digitalis Purpurea si cimentano infatti in un electro/industrial dalle contaminazioni black (il contrario di quanto avviene di solito in campo metal, dove molte formazioni black hanno iniziato ad inserire delle contaminazioni elettroniche nel loro genere) che tuttavia ha come nume tutelare Marilyn Manson (non solo nelle sonorità, ma anche nell'immaginario) e strizza l'occhio neanche troppo velatamente all'EBM. I Digitalis Purpurea devono poi conoscere bene anche i Kraftwerk, visto che le sonorità minimali e retrò che spuntano spesso qua e là fanno sembrare la band una loro moderna figlia bastarda e corrotta.
Il risultato è tuttavia a mio avviso solo sufficiente. "Aseptic White" mi è risultato troppo artificioso ed estetizzante (anche se probabilmente era quella l'intenzione), incapace di catturarmi veramente: insomma, al di là dell'apparenza mi pare manchi la sostanza. Basti pensare che tra le dieci tracce del cd quella che più mi ha incuriosito è stata la ruffiana rilettura di "Maneater" di Nelly Furtado (furbescamente messa allo scopo), e non è bello quando il pezzo più memorabile di un cd è una cover...
