Dimmu Borgir's re-recording of "Stormblåst"

Erik said:
Dude. Your argument would be great if applied to other circumstances, but it is a FACT that Dimmu Borgir have said in interviews that this was done with the EXPLICIT and SOLE PURPOSE of getting money.

So obviously they didn't keep to the last part of that, what with "keeping the recording close to the original" and all but the fact is that the reason behind them doing this was a matter of getting royalties for an album they were currently not getting any for. All money.

EDIT: The key words here are OBVIOUSLY WE DON'T WANT TO RE-RECORD IT. It was done for money, no fucking artistic reasons.

Erik is right.

If you guys think that your favourite bands dont have MAINLY MONEY in mind when they release an album, you should wake up.

This is hands down the most absurd thing I've ever read on the internet. Literally, I'm not even kidding.

i'm pretty sure greek guy should reword that to "my favourite bands", and even so i would be very skeptical that what he says is anywhere close to true

This is one of those issues that just make me shake my head. Who the fuck cares? Queensryche is doing "Operation: Mindcrime II". Will I ever hear it? Nope. Do I fucking care? Nope.

If you love the old recording, why let this new recording distract from that?

I don't think they can be compared beyond existing primarily for the money. OM II may very well prove to be poorly conceived, but it has greater value than Stormblast redux simply for consisting of new material. Just pretend the rehash doesn't exist, except when bashing them for going through with the useless idea...would work for me except I don't care either way regarding Dimmu.

You know, while our program starts to take off, and your shit sits dormant, I really don't have the time...

It was pretty predictable that you weren't going to like this cd.

And Pantera and Shadows Fall are 2 bands out of a thousand in my collection.

Go clean up your gay little apartment or take pictures of your food. :loco:

Or go listen to our inside joke/subliminal comments for you on the second episode. :Spin:

You are right, i should have said "Every band in the universe that sells its releases,demos,tapes,re-releases" which practically means "Every band in the universe that goes beyond rehearsing in a basement". Its ok you'll realize the truth about that too someday.

Okay, this is sad. Is it possible to maintain "musical integrity" and still want money for your work? Personally, I think it's totally cool if a band wants to get paid for their work after putting in X amount of dollars (not to mention hours) to put out such a product. I think every artist at least would like to break even. Obviously the intent should be for the music solely, but to say that an artist shouldn't want to get paid (oh noes they want money!?!? sell0uts!!?!) for their work is absurd.

With that said, Dimmu's black little heart was totally in the wrong place.

Erik said:
Yes, but not likely. It can happen if the individuals in the band are strong as fuck, but the human mind is pathetically weak when it's faced with the almighty $$$.

No doubt, but I don't see any problem with sacrificing blood/sweat/tears/money for art either. It's worth it in the end.

Not really. It's an extreme opinion in a world governed by money and nothing but money, sure, but I think if you dig deeper you'll find it less than "absurd" actually

You sound like a pimply sixteen year old that has yet to make a mortgage payment or be faced to live REAL life and not a sheltered one of school and livin at home with mammy.

Hey "swedish guy" send me some Nasheim and Lethal stuff for free. On cd and vinyl eh. T-shirts and longsleeves too (for free, since im sure they were not made for sale, just to please your "artistic needs").

I'VE NEVER MADE ANY MONEY OFF NASHEIM. I give records away for postage money (to break even) and I do not receive any money from the label.

+

I gave away my last shirt yesterday and vinyls are such a fucking bitch to mail

heh

i dunno man, i don't think anyone thought michelangelo "sold out" by getting paid for the sistine chapel.
