Back in the Hellhole called Texas.
I REALLY like this song from the "My Twin" EP. I think I may even like it more than "My Twin" (though it could just be because it's newer to me). I love the guitars. The song just seems...majestic, for lack of a better word. Great atmosphere to it. Just...wow. How do you feel about this song?

I forgot to mention that the drumming is pretty good too. Just the guitars in it stand out to me so much. The part where the whispers are, I almost expect a death metal growl instead of whispers for some reason. Would actually fit quite nicely on that part, I think.

I was thinking about it and I think this song just takes me off to another place the way Opeth used to (Orchid to Still Life) and I love it when music can do that for me. I think that's why I like this song so much.

I didn't even realize it was whispers, i thought they just had screaming that was turned down really quiet. Maybe that's just how i heard it because that's what i would expect so much.

Discouraged+One, it was just an article I saw some years ago and it annoyed me because people in power always try to find a way to put down/hold down those they want to control (some past victims of this were blacks, women, etc.), and a lot of people don't ever question it. I should re-word it or something, I guess.

Anyway, back to talking about the song...

exactly why would you say it sounds like a "popsong"......I need to know......what about it sounds poppy to you........hmmm....I strongly dissagree with you.....so make yourself clear.....if just for me.
A little hard to say. I get this feeling from listening to the song. At least i think we can all agree its melodic and catchy. And remember pop isn't really a simple genre, a lot of stuff can be considered "poppy". It surely doesn't sound like any other popband i've heard of, but it still has that commercial wibe. So its not pop.. Just... a little.

A lot of metalpeople are like "Pop suxxx! The enemy of metal!" and stuff, but it wasn't meant as anything negative. I'd even say My twin has a little pop in it. *picks up giant shield*

i was going to make a thread on this one yesterday. i like it because it has those Katatonia Leads® that have been absent a lot recently and some pretty cool atmosphere. not a real fan of jonas' style of singing on this one though -- it's indeed similar to some pop bands i've heard and i don't necessarily think it fits all that well, but it works..

The part where the whispers are, I almost expect a death metal growl instead of whispers for some reason.
me too. thought exactly the same thing. it's as if my brain wants me to hear that part growled.

I really love this song, reminds me very, very much of The Cure and Robert Smith, especially the "A Destined Goodbye" delivery.

Anders, can't you give us your lyrics? :D

just got the new ep...deffinetly has a great feel to it...though the opium dub doesn't really belong there...
Dissolving bonds owns indeed...imo it should have gone to the album too.
