Go to bed at night with the song that you just mixed looping over and over and over and over and over through your mind as you try to fall asleep and no matter what you do, you cannot get it out of your mind?

Happens to me EVERYTIME I do a mix.

Absolutely. The only way I can extinguish the repetition is to think of it even more. It's Gestalt thinking; focusing on the "bother" so much that it eventually fades away.

I generally get client's songs stuck in my head ALL the time.

Have you ever had a dream you were editing songs? Then you wake up and realize that none of the editing is done, and think, "God dammit I'm not doing all of that again!"

after mixing my own songs this happen's which sucks because i dont want to get sick of my songs!
this also happen's to me if i play halo for more than 6 hours in a day. i go to sleep hearing chainguns off the hog's and grenade's going off.

A therapy thread, I like it.
I never hear the songs, just the big questions "How will it sound in the morning ? If I only new how Andy really does it, does he use this and that blah ?",
2'' later I think "f**** it, sleep is sacred" and doze off.

I have struggled with that problem as well. Now I just read atleast 2 or more chapters from a book before I turn out the light. It really helps me to stop nitpicking over the mixes/tunes in my head. It's got to be a fun book though, or my mind keeps interupting the reading with thoughts of music. Been having a lot of fun with the Dune books (Frank Herbert) and the Sword of Truth series (Terry Goodkind). Fun shite.

Reading a book is about the only way I can fall asleep anymore after all that. But even as I was reading, I could hear the music repeating over in my head. Unfortunatly, even as I am reading I can hear the music in my head and I have to actually *WORK HARD* to concentrate more on the words in front of me as each sentence gets interrupted by lyrics in my head. But it does work. I'm currently reading Star Trek 3 part series started with "God's of Night". Good series. BTW if you haven't already check out the Belgariad Series by David Eddings, it has some similarities to the Sword of Truth in that a boy grows into his powers fantasy Novel. Good stuff!

Anyways, it's good to know that I'm not the only one who deals with this. Sometimes it's aggravating, because even if I'm not working in the studio and at home relaxing or whatever I am constantly hearing the music in my head!

I also get this after gigs. Sometimes after going to see another band but mostly after getting home from playing a gig. I find that it usually has to do with the adrenalin still going from the stage. It's just hard to get out of the concentration and the moment that you try to create.

I find that a late night DVD, radio or porn/ a root help at times :p

Cool, thanks for the book suggestion. I'm always looking for good stuff. :)
